Appointments, Promotions, Resignations, and Transfers of Officers of the N.Z. Staff Corps and Territorial Force.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the N.Z. Staff Corps and Territorial Force, and the reposting of officers from the N.Z. Expeditionary Force to the Territorial Force.

APPOINTMENTS.

Captain (temp. Major) Harry Stuart Norton Robinson, N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Group Commander, Group No. 12, Canterbury Military District. Dated 9th January, 1919.

Captain William Charles Finnis, N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed General Staff Officer, Canterbury Military District, and is granted the temporary rank of Major. Dated 22nd March, 1919.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) William Moody Bell, N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Group Commander, No. 5 Group, Wellington Military District. Dated 31st January, 1919.

Major Thomas Farr, D.S.O., M.C. (N.Z.E.F.), is appointed Adjutant (temp.), Wellington Field Artillery Brigade. Dated 11th February, 1919.

Lieutenant-Colonel Thomas Mill, C.M.G., M.B., N.Z. Medical Corps (N.Z.E.F.), is granted the temporary rank of Colonel whilst holding the appointment of Principal Medical Officer, Trentham Special Military Hospital. Dated 20th January, 1919.

Lieutenant-Colonel Hugh Thomas Dyke Acland, C.M.G., F.R.C.S. Eng., N.Z. Medical Corps (N.Z.E.F.), is granted the temporary rank of Colonel whilst holding the appointment of Consulting Surgeon in Special Military Surgery. Dated 20th January, 1919.

Major (temp.) Herbert Reginald Ryder relinquishes the appointment of Officer Commanding Tauherenikau Camp, and the temporary rank of Major in the N.Z. Military Forces. Dated 5th February, 1919.

Major John Wallace Brunt, 11th Regiment (Taranaki Rifles) is appointed Camp Commander, Featherston Military Camp. Dated 7th March, 1919.

Captain (temp.) Herbert Carvosso, Unattached List (b), vacates the appointment of Supply Officer in N.Z. Expeditionary Force training-camps, and is appointed Officer-in-Charge, Supplies and Transport, Trentham Military Camp. Dated 15th January, 1919.

The undermentioned officers of the N.Z. Dental Corps relinquish their appointments in N.Z. Expeditionary Force training-camps, and the temporary rank of Captain, with effect from dates specified:—

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) Stuart Allan Noble-Campbell. Dated 22nd November, 1918.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) Ernest Charles Wykes. Dated 2nd December, 1918.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) Howard Edward Jackson. Dated 3rd December, 1918.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) Frank Normanton Fussell. Dated 3rd December, 1918.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) Harry Percy Rae Foster. Dated 2nd March, 1919.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) Henry Delamore Stride, Unattached List (b), relinquishes the appointment of Mounted Rifles Instructor, Featherston Camp, and the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 29th November, 1918.

Sergeant-Instructor Sidney Ernest Lorking, N.Z. Permanent Staff (temp.), is appointed Vocational Officer, Auckland Military District, and is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant whilst so employed. Dated 17th February, 1919.

2nd Lieutenant Charlton Conrad Ziesler, N.Z. Rifle Brigade (Earl of Liverpool's Own), is appointed Vocational Officer, Otago Military District, and is granted the temporary rank of Captain whilst so employed. Dated 1st March, 1919.

THE REGIMENT OF ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY.

Honorary Lieutenant (temp.) Egbert Henry Sawle is transferred to the N.Z. Army Ordnance Department. Dated 1st April, 1919.

N.Z. ARMY ORDNANCE DEPARTMENT.

Honorary Lieutenant (temp.) Egbert Henry Sawle, from the Royal N.Z. Artillery, to be graded Ordnance Officer, 3rd Class, with the rank of Captain, and is appointed Inspector of Ordnance Machinery. Dated 1st April, 1919.

1ST MOUNTED RIFLES (CANTERBURY, YEOMANRY CAVALRY).

The undermentioned Lieutenants to be Captains:—

Derisley Thayer Wood, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 15th March, 1918.

David Barker. Dated 4th March, 1919.

4TH (WAIKATO) MOUNTED RIFLES.

2nd Lieutenant Henry Logan Wade to be Lieutenant, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 2nd March, 1918, with seniority next below Lieutenant William John Foster.

N.Z. FIELD ARTILLERY.

“H” Battery.

Major (temp. Colonel) Noel Percy Adams, C.M.G., relinquishes the appointment of Camp Commandant, Featherston, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers with the honorary rank of Colonel. Dated 26th November, 1918.

N.Z. GARRISON ARTILLERY.

Captain (temp.) Francis Potter to be Major (temp.) under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 24th February, 1919.

CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.

Divisional Signal Companies (Auckland).

2nd Lieutenant Wilfred Fosbery Stilwell, M.C., to be Lieutenant, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 9th November, 1917.

N.Z. RAILWAY BATTALIONS (NORTH ISLAND).

The undermentioned Lieutenants to be Captains. Dated 24th February, 1919:—

Cyril George Hedge.

4TH (OTAGO) REGIMENT.

Major James Sandilands Douglas is transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated 12th March, 1919.

2nd Lieutenant George Edgar Henderson Garden to be Lieutenant, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 31st July, 1918.

6TH (HAURAKI) REGIMENT.

2nd Lieutenant Robert Tilsley, M.C., D.C.M., from the Unattached List (b), General List, to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 10th March, 1919.

12TH (NELSON AND MARLBOROUGH) REGIMENT.

Company Sergeant-Major Arthur Oswald Hammond to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 27th February, 1919.

N.Z. FORCES MOTOR-SERVICE CORPS.

Motor-car Section (Otago).

2nd Lieutenant (on probation) Maurice Thompson resigns his appointment. Dated 5th March, 1919.

N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.

Captain (temp. Major) William Phillip Johnston, M.D., relinquishes his appointment on H.M.N.Z. Hospital Ship “Marama,” and retains the temporary rank of Major until further notice. Dated 1st February, 1919.

Herbert O’Callaghan, M.B., late Captain R.A.M.C., to be Captain (temp.) whilst acting as Assistant Medical Officer at the Te Waikato Sanatorium. Dated 12th February, 1919.

Lieutenant Alexander Martin Ross, M.B., is granted the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 21st February, 1919.

N.Z. DENTAL CORPS.

Lieutenant (temp.) John William Tucker relinquishes his appointment in N.Z. Expeditionary Force training-camps and the temporary rank of Lieutenant. Dated 7th January, 1919.

N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.

The Commission granted the Reverend William Spence, Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class, is cancelled. Dated 7th March, 1919.

The Reverend Harry Frank Tracey, Chaplain to the Forces, 1st Class, retires under the provisions of paragraphs 126 and 127, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 13th March, 1919.
