IT is hereby notified for public information that the Minister of Defence has cancelled the appointment of the following Soldiers’ Property Boards of Trustees, namely:—

Sale of Unclaimed Property.
Police Department,

IT is hereby notified that unclaimed property in the hands of the police at the various police-stations will, if not claimed before Monday, the 31st March, 1919, be sold thereafter by public auction.
Particulars as to the time and place of sale may be obtained from the Superintendent or Inspector of Police in Charge of the district.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.
Reserves in Canterbury Land District for Lease by Public Tender.

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for a lease of the undermentioned land will be received at this office up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Thursday, 17th April, 1919, under the provisions of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, and amendments.
SCHEDULE.
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—WAIPARA COUNTY.—
WAIKARI SURVEY DISTRICT.
RESERVES 1256 and 1679, Block IV: Area, 98 acres; minimum annual rental, £24; term, fourteen years.
All open country, mostly steep hillsides, covered with native and other grasses. There is a two-roomed cottage and a stable on the land, and the reserves are fenced on the east, west, and south. Access about nine miles from Waikari by formed road.
ABSTRACT OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

The purchaser of the lease shall, immediately upon the fall of the hammer, deposit an amount equal to six months’ rent at the rate offered, together with £1 1s. lease fee.
-
Possession will be given on the day of sale.
-
The lease will be offered for a term of fourteen years, without right of renewal.
-
The lessee shall have no claim against the Crown for any improvements existing on the land at the end of the term of lease, but such improvements shall be valued and be a charge upon the land, the value being payable by the incoming lessee to the outgoing lessee.
-
The lessee shall have no right to transfer, sublet, or otherwise dispose of the whole or any portion of the land comprised in the lease, except with the written consent of the Governor-General first had and obtained.

The lessee shall destroy all rabbits on the land, and shall prevent their increase or spread, to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

The lessee shall prevent the growth and spread of gorse, broom, and sweetbrier on the land comprised in the lease; and he shall with all reasonable despatch remove, or cause to be removed, all gorse, sweetbrier, broom, or other noxious weeds or plants as may be directed by the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

The lessee shall once a year during the said term, and at the proper season of the year, properly cut and trim all live fences now on the demised land or which may be planted thereon during the said term.

The rent shall be payable half-yearly in advance, free from all deductions whatsoever.
-
The lease shall be liable to forfeiture in case the lessee shall fail to fulfil any of the conditions of the said lease within sixty days after the date on which the same ought to be fulfilled.
-
The lessee shall paint the cottage on the reserve with one coat of oil and lead paint during the years 1924 and 1929, and shall otherwise keep it in good repair inside and outside, to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of Crown Lands, and shall keep it insured to its full insurable value in the State Fire Office, in the name of His Majesty the King.

Timber in Taranaki Land District for Sale by Public Auction.

NOTICE is hereby given that the right to cut and remove the timber on the undermentioned lands will be offered for sale by public auction, in three lots, at the District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, on Friday, the 2nd day of May, 1919, at 11.30 a.m., under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and the Timber Regulations thereunder.
SCHEDULE.
TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.
Lot 1.—Section 3, Block V, Ohura Survey District: Area, 158 acres.
Situated close to the Ohura Township, which is about twenty-four miles from the Main Trunk Railway by dray-road, only metalled part of the way, so that haulage for any distance would be best done in dry weather.
