Notice of Intention to take Additional Land in Block III, Rangitoto Survey District, for Post-office Purposes.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to take additional land in Block III, Rangitoto Survey District, described in the Schedule hereto, for post-office purposes. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Takapuna, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 25·46 perches.
Being part Lot 9 of Subdivision of Allotments 81 and 82, Takapuna Parish, Block III, Rangitoto Survey District (Borough of Takapuna). (S.O. 20303).
In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 45374, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon edged red.

Notice to Mariners.—No. 2 of 1919.

THE following Notices to Mariners, which have been received from the Department of Trade and Customs, Melbourne; the Marine Board, Hobart; and the Minister of State for Communications, Tokyo, are published for general information.

AUSTRALIA.
EAST COAST, INNER BARRIER ROUTE.—Tih Tih Reef.—Light (U) established.—Beacon removed.
Mariners and others are hereby notified that—
(a.) The group flashing white light is now permanently established.
(b.) The black square beacon is removed.
Position.—Near the middle of the north-east side of the reef, at a distance of 135 ft. westward of the position formerly occupied by the black square beacon, which has now been removed. Lat. 13° 9′ S., long. 143° 37′ E., on Chart No. 2921.
Details :—
Character.—Group flashing white light, showing a group of four flashes in quick succession every twenty seconds, thus—flash ½ sec., eclipse 1 sec. ; flash ½ sec., eclipse 1 sec. ; flash ½ sec., eclipse 1 sec. ; flash ½ sec., eclipse 15 secs.
Elevation.—56 ft.
Visibility.—13 miles.
Power.—1,500 candles.
Structure.—Steel skeleton tower, painted red, on concrete piers. Height, 61 ft.
Remarks.—The light is unwatched.
HEATH REEF.—LIGHT (U) ESTABLISHED.—CLAREMONT ISLES LIGHT-VESSEL WITHDRAWN.—BEACON REMOVED.
Mariners and others are hereby notified that—
(a.) The group flashing white light is now permanently established.
(b.) The Claremont Isles Light-vessel is withdrawn.
(c.) The black square beacon is removed.
(1.) Light established—
Position.—On the centre of the reef, at a distance of 130 ft. north-eastward of the position formerly occupied by the black square beacon, which has now been removed. Lat. 13° 28½′ S., long. 143° 40½′ E., on Chart No. 2921.
Details :—
Character.—Group flashing white light, showing a group of three flashes in quick succession every fifteen seconds, thus—flash ½ sec., eclipse 1 sec. ; flash ½ sec., eclipse 1 sec. ; flash ½ sec., eclipse 11½ secs.
Elevation.—56 ft.
Visibility.—13 miles.
Power.—1,500 candles.
Structure.—Steel skeleton tower, painted red and white, on concrete piers. Height, 61 ft.
Remarks.—The light is unwatched.
(2.) Light-vessel withdrawn—
Position.—At a distance of about 8 cables to the westward of Heath Reef. Lat. 13° 29′ S., long. 143° 40′ E., on Chart No. 2921.
Description.—A light-vessel formerly exhibiting a fixed white light.
TASMANIA.
Notice is hereby given that a channel has been dredged in East Bay, between Dunbabin Point and Green Point. It is about 2,900 ft. long and 40 ft. wide, with a depth of 8 ft. 6 in. at low water, and is marked with white stakes, which must be left on the starboard hand when entering the channel from East Bay.
The channel has been named Dunbabin Channel by the Marine Board of Hobart.
JAPAN.
W. COAST OF KARAFUTO.
Notice is hereby given that a light on Kenushi-Misaki, west coast of Karafuto, will be exhibited in near future.
Kenushi Misaki Lighthouse.
Position.—Lat. 46° 36′ N., long. 141° 48′ 50″ E. (according to Japanese Admiralty Chart No. 33).
Description.—Octagonal concrete tower, painted white.
Height of Light.—50 shaku above the base, 215 shaku above the water.
Character of Light.—Fourth-order group-flashing white, showing a double flashing in quick succession during 8 seconds followed by an eclipse of 22 seconds.
Illuminated Arc.—An arc 207° 10′, from N. 10° 30′ E. through E. and S. to S. 37° 40′ W. (magnetic bearings taken from seaward).
Power.—2,500 candles.
Visible Distance.—21 nautical miles in clear night.
Further notice will be given after the above light has been installed.
Importation to United States of New Zealand Hemp.

IT is hereby notified for public information that, in accordance with advice now received, the Government of the United States of America now propose to grant licenses for importation of New Zealand hemp without limit as to the quantity.

Importation to United States of America of Tallow, Hides, Skins undressed, Fur-skins, and Rabbit-skins.
Customs Department,
Wellington, 15th January, 1919.
IT is hereby notified for public information that, in accordance with advice now received, any prohibitions against the importation to the United States of America of tallow, hides, skins undressed, fur-skins, and rabbit-skins have been withdrawn.
Permits to export hides, skins undressed, fur-skins, and rabbit-skins to the United States of America will be freely granted in the meantime upon application addressed to the Comptroller of Customs, Wellington. No permit is required in the case of tallow.
