ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, bounded towards the north-west by the Waipa County from the westernmost corner of Section 1, Blocks VIII and XII, Puniu Survey District, to the Puahue-Hairini Road; thence towards the north-east generally by that road, the northern and north-eastern boundaries of Puahue No. 2 No. 13 Block, by the north-eastern boundaries of Puahue No. 2 No. 11 Block, and the northern boundary of Maungatautari 4E No. 1 Block; thence towards the east generally by the eastern boundary of Maungatautari 4E No. 1 Block to a public road intersecting 4E No. 1 aforesaid; thence by that road to its intersection with the main Kihikihi-Waotu Road; and towards the south by that road to the place of commencement.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Taranaki County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

COUNTY OF TARANAKI.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the County of Taranaki taken on the 19th day of February, 1919, on the proposal of the Taranaki County Council to borrow the sum of £8,550 for construction of concrete bridges in the Moa Riding, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 135, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 133.
I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

Notice of the Taking and Laying-off of a Road in Otonomomo Settlement, Otago Land District.
NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, under the authority of section 14 of the Land Act, 1908, that the road described in the Schedule hereto was, on the 22nd day of January, 1919, duly taken and laid off through the land specified in the said Schedule, under the authority of the Governor-General of the said Dominion, by Warrants dated the 21st day of July, 1918, and the 15th day of November, 1918.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Stationers’ Shops in the Waiuku Town District, under the Shops and Offices Act.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the stationers’ shops in the Waiuku Town District, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 9 p.m., and on Saturdays at 9.15 p.m., with the following exceptions—(1) the working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day and the working-day immediately preceding New Year’s Day, when the closing-hour shall 11 p.m.; (2) the working-day immediately preceding each of the following days, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Labour Day, the birthday of the reigning Sovereign, and any other day which, pursuant to a Proclamation by the Governor-General or declaration by the Government, or on the request of the Mayor or Chairman of the local authority, is generally observed as a public holiday or half-holiday, when the closing-hour shall be 11 p.m.; (3) should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe, pursuant to section 11 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, Saturday as the statutory closing-day, then and in such case the closing-hour on Thursday for any such shop shall be 10 p.m. and on Friday shall be 11 p.m.; (4) should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe, pursuant to section 19 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, any day other than Thursday in any week as the statutory closing-day, then and in such case the closing-hour on Thursday for any such shop in that week shall be 10 p.m., and should such day fall on Saturday the closing-hour on Friday shall be 11 p.m.:
And whereas the Waiuku Town Board has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the stationers’ shops within the Waiuku Town District:
Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Acting Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 12th day of March, 1919, all the stationers’ shops in the Waiuku Town District shall be closed accordingly.
The notice gazetted on the 11th day of July, 1918, fixing the closing-hours of all shops in the Waiuku Town District, is hereby varied accordingly.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block VI, Maungataniwha Survey District, Mongonui County, for the Purposes of a Road.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road in Block VI, Maungataniwha Survey District; and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Te Koroa, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the Lyttelton Borough Council has, by special order, declared broom (Cytisus scoparius), fennel (Foeniculum vulgare), gorse (Ulex europaeus), and hemlock (Conium maculatum) to be noxious weeds within the meaning of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1908, in the Borough of Lyttelton.
