✨ Land District Boundaries and Regulations
to time, as he think fit, constitute and define the boundaries
of any additional land district or districts, abolish any land
district or alter the boundaries of any land district :
And whereas it is desirable to alter the boundaries of
the Otago and Southland Land Districts :
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of
Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New
Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in pursuance
and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me
by the said Acts, do hereby order and declare that from and
after the date hereof the boundaries of the Otago and South-
land Land Districts shall be such as are described in the
Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the Dominion of New Zealand bounded
towards the north generally by a right line from the northern
side of Big Bay to Mount Aspiring; thence by the summit
of the Southern Alps to Mount Hopkins; thence by the
Canterbury Land District, as described in the New Zealand
Gazette No. 44, of the 25th March, 1915, to the mouth of the
Waitaki River; thence towards the south-east generally
by the ocean to the eastern boundary of Waikawa Survey
District; thence towards the west generally by the Waikawa,
Mokoreta, Slopedown, Waikaka, Chatton, and part of Wendon
Survey Districts to the southern boundary of Run No. 175c ;
thence by the western boundaries of the said Run No. 175c
and Run No. 202, Waikaia, Gap, and Rockyside Survey
Districts, to the south-eastern corner of Run No. 323A, in
Lorn Survey District ; thence by the said Run No. 323A,
by Kingston Survey District, and the western shore of Lake
Wakatipu ; thence towards the south generally by the
southern shore of Lake Wakatipu to the Greenstone River ;
thence by that river to the south-eastern boundary of Run
No. 431, in Von Survey District ; thence by the said south-
eastern boundary of Run No. 431 to the watershed between
the sources of the Greenstone River and the Mararoa River;
thence by that watershed to David Peaks, by the summit
of the watershed between the source of the said Greenstone
River and the Eglinton River, by the summit of the water-
shed between the Hollyford River and the Eglinton River
to Mount Anau ; thence by the summit of the leading
range to Homer's Saddle ; thence by the summit of the
watershed between the Hollyford River and the Cleddau
River to Tutoko Peak ; thence by the summit of the leading
range to Pembroke Peak ; thence by a line along the summit
of the watershed between John O'Groats River and Thurso
River to the sea at Stripe Point, about one mile and a half
south of the mouth of John O'Groats River ; thence towards
the north-west by the ocean to the northern side of Big Bay,
the place of commencement : including all the adjacent
islands.
SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.
All that area in the Dominion of New Zealand bounded
towards the north-east generally by the Otago Land Dis-
trict hereinbefore described from Stripe Point to the sea at
the south-eastern corner of Waikawa Survey District, thence
towards the south and west generally by the sea to the place
of commencement, with all islands adjacent thereto, and in-
cluding Stewart, Solander, Ruapuke, the Snares, Auckland,
Enderby, Campbell, Antipodes, and Bounty Islands, and all
other islands or islets within the limits of the Dominion which
lie south of the forty-seventh parallel of south latitude.

Amending Regulations as to Shipment and Landing of
Petroleum.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this fourth day
of February, 1919.

IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the ninth day of
December, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen,
and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 163, of the
twelfth day of the same month, regulations with respect to
the landing, shipping, transshipping, and removal of petroleum
were made : And whereas it is desirable to amend such
regulations :
Now, therefore,& His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise
of the powers conferred upon him by section two hundred
and five of the Harbours Act, 1908, and of all other powers
and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and acting by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the following further
regulations, which shall be read with and form part of the
said regulations of the ninth day of December, one thousand
nine hundred and eighteen.
REGULATIONS.
11a. No person shall take a locomotive moving by its own
power into the vicinity of a vessel loading or discharging
petroleum, or down or up a wharf at which such a vessel is
lying, whilst she is engaged in loading or discharging petroleum,
unless each locomotive is fitted with effective spark-arresters.
11b. No person shall couple a wagon containing petroleum
directly on to a locomotive, but shall put at least one wagon
which does not contain petroleum between them.

WHEREAS, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him
by the Government Railways Act, 1908, and all
other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf,
His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of
New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of
the Executive Council of the said Dominion, did, on the fifth
day of December, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen,
for the purpose of the aforesaid Act, make certain regulations
thereunder (hereinafter referred to as the "principal regula-
tions") that were gazetted on the sixth day of December
then instant : And whereas it is expedient to amend those
regulations :
Now, therefore, in further exercise of the aforesaid powers,
and of all other powers enabling him in this behalf, His
Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New
Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke
regulations sixty-three of the principal regulations, and doth
hereby make the following regulation in lieu thereof; and
doth hereby declare that this Order in Council shall come
into force as from the first day of April, one thousand nine
hundred and eighteen.
REGULATION.
- MEMBERS of the First Division when travelling on duty
shall be paid the following travelling allowances for personal
expenses, but such allowances shall not be payable when
members are travelling on transfer:-
General Manager, £1 ls. per day.
Members (not otherwise specified) in receipt of salaries
exceeding £700 per annum, 17s. 6d. per day.
Members (not otherwise specified) in receipt of salaries
exceeding £525 but not exceeding £700 per annum,
15s. per day.
Members (not otherwise specified) receiving salaries over
£400 but not exceeding £525 per annum, 12s. 6d. per
day.
Members (not otherwise specified) in receipt of salaries
exceeding £110 per annum but not exceeding £400
per annum, 10s. per day.
For sea travel the allowance shall be,--
s. d.
For first night ... ... ... ... 5 0
Each subsequent night ... ... ... 2 6
Provided that where a land journey has to be undertaken
before joining vessel, out-of-pocket expenses for meals and
contingencies may be charged, full details being entered on
claim voucher. The total of such expenses for meals, to-
gether with the sea allowance, shall in no case exceed the
full daily allowance prescribed above for personal expenses.
