Including the suburban portions, the rate at Christchurch is the highest, Dunedin next highest, Auckland and Wellington with equal rates following.

The total births registered for the four metropolitan areas amounted to 666, as against 597 in October—an increase of 69. The deaths in November were 330—a decrease of 20 as compared with the previous month. Of the total deaths males contributed 162, females 168. Forty-four of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 13·33 per cent. of the whole number. Thirty-one of these were under one year of age.
