PALMERSTON NORTH BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

In pursuance of section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that the poll of ratepayers of the Borough of Palmerston North taken on the 12th day of November, 1919, on the proposal of the Palmerston North Borough Council to borrow the sum of £10,000 for the purpose of carrying out extensions, improvements, &c., at the municipal abattoir, resulted as follows: Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 38; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 84.

I therefore declare the proposal lost.

The Industrial Schools Act, 1908.—Notice to the Public Trustee.

W HEREAS Kenneth Halliday Dunlea is at present an inmate of the Christchurch Receiving Home, an industrial school under the Industrial Schools Act, 1908: And whereas such inmate is entitled to certain moneys: And whereas it appears expedient to issue the directions hereinafter set forth:

Now, I, Francis Henry Dillon Bell, Minister of Education, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 38 of the Industrial Schools Act, 1908, do hereby direct the Public Trustee to take possession of all such moneys and apply the same for the benefit of such inmate, in accordance with the provisions of the last-mentioned Act.

I N pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the Noxious Weeds Act, 1908 (hereinafter called “the said Act”), His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby extend the operation of the Third Schedule of the said Act by including therein the plant known as Lantana (Lantana Camara L.); and it is hereby declared that this Order shall come into force on the day of the publication hereof in the Gazette.

Rangitaiki Land Drainage District.—Notice of Intention to make and levy Rates.

N OTICE is hereby given that it is intended, pursuant to the Rangitaiki Land Drainage Act, 1910, and its amendments, to make and levy a rate for that period from 1st April, 1919, to 31st March, 1920, on the unimproved value of all land within the district constituted under the said Act. The amount of such rate will be payable in one sum on the 20th day of December, 1919.

The valuation roll of the district is open for inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, Chief Drainage Engineer’s Office, 43 High Street, Auckland, and a copy of the same may be inspected at the office of the Chief Drainage Engineer, Whakatane, at all times at which those offices are open for the transaction of public business.

N OTICE is hereby given that it is intended, pursuant to the Hauraki Plains Amendment Act, 1911, and its amendments, to make and levy a rate for the period from 1st April, 1919, to 31st March, 1920, on the unimproved value of all lands subject to the operations of the Hauraki Plains Act, 1908.

The amount of such rate will be payable in one sum on the 20th day of December, 1919.

The valuation roll of the district is open for inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, Chief Drainage Engineer’s Office, 43 High Street, Auckland, and a copy of the same may be inspected at the office of the Chief Drainage Engineer, Kerepehi, at all times at which those offices are open for the transaction of public business.
