Amending Rules for Life-saving Appliances for Ships.
LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this twenty-eighth day of January, 1919.
Present :
The Honourable Sir James Allen, K.C.B., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the twenty-seventh day of July, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 69, of the thirtieth day of the same month, certain rules for life-saving appliances for ships were made: And whereas it is desirable to make additional rules:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the following additional rules; and doth order that such rules shall come and be in force on and after the first day of February, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen.
RULES FOR LIFE-SAVING APPLIANCES.
Class XIV.-Rules for Vessels used for Pleasure Purposes only.
Ships of this class shall be subject to the following rules :—
Rule A.—Ships over 40 ft. in length shall carry two approved lifebuoys, secured in a convenient place on deck, one on each side of the ship. Ships of or under 40 ft. in length shall carry one approved lifebuoy, secured in a convenient place on deck.
Rule B.—They shall carry a sufficient number of approved lifebelts, so that there shall be one for each person on board.

Amendment of the Regulations under the Stock Act, 1908, for the Prevention of the Introduction into New Zealand of Diseases affecting Dogs.—Notice No. 1952.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this twenty-eighth day of January, 1919.

WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the fourth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the seventh day of October, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, regulations were made under the Stock Act, 1908, for the prevention of the introduction into New Zealand of diseases affecting stock:
And whereas by the said regulations the importation into the Dominion of dogs from the United Kingdom is permitted only in the manner prescribed by such regulations subject to the animals undergoing the period of quarantine therein provided:
And whereas it is expedient to amend the aforesaid regulations so as to safeguard dogs in New Zealand from becoming infected with any disease affecting such animals, by lengthening the period of quarantine which dogs from the United Kingdom are required to undergo in the Dominion:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Stock Act, 1908, and of all other powers enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby amend the regulations hereinbefore mentioned to the extent set out in the Schedule hereto; and doth hereby declare that this Order in Council shall come into force on the date of the publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
Clause 40 is hereby amended by deleting the words “ Dogs from the United Kingdom, 60 days,” and substituting therefor the words “ Dogs from the United Kingdom, 6 months, such time to include the period from the date of embarkation of the animal in Great Britain to its removal into quarantine in New Zealand.”

Amending Regulations for Trout, Perch, and Tench Fishing, Southern Acclimatization District.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this twenty-eighth day of January, 1919.

The Honourable Sir James Allen, K.C.B., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the twenty-first day of September, one thousand nine hundred and four, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 78, of the following day, regulations were made for trout, perch, and tench fishing in the Southern Acclimatization District:
And whereas it is desirable to amend the said regulations in the manner hereinafter described:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the Fisheries Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby amend the said regulations of the twenty-first day of September, one thousand nine hundred and four, by adding the following proviso to regulation five thereof :
“ Provided that it shall be unlawful to use worm when fishing for trout, perch, or tench in the Opihi River.”

Portion of the Eastern Side of Bridle-path Road, Heathcote County, exempted from the Provisions of Section 17 of the Public Works Act, 1908, subject to a Condition as to the Building-line.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this twenty-eighth day of January, 1919.
Present :
The Honourable Sir James Allen, K.C.B., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by subsection one of section one hundred and seventeen of the Public Works Act, 1908, it is, inter alia, provided that the said section shall not apply in any case where the local authority having control of a road or street by resolution declares that the provisions thereof shall not apply to any specified road or street, or any specified part thereof, and such resolution is approved by the Governor-General in Council:
And whereas by subsection two of section one hundred and seventeen of the Public Works Act, 1908, and clause (b) of subsection one of section thirteen of the Public Works Amendment Act, 1911, it is provided that such approval may be either absolute or subject to such conditions with respect to the building-line as the Governor-General, by Order in Council, thinks fit to impose, and may refer to one or both sides of the road or street:
And whereas the Heathcote County Council, the local authority having control of the portion of road described in the Schedule hereto, hereinafter referred to as the said portion of road, has passed the following resolution, viz. : “ That, pursuant to section one hundred and seventeen of the Public Works Act, 1908, the east side of Bridle-path Road, Heathcote, bounding Lots 1 and 2, Rural Section 254, as shown on survey plan dated the seventh day of December, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, prepared by George Hanmer, of Christchurch, Licensed Surveyor, and about to be lodged in the Land Transfer Office at Christchurch for checking and deposit, be exempted from the provisions of the said section relating to the setting-back of the frontage to thirty-three feet from the centre of the street, subject to the building-line being set back thirty-three feet from the centre of the said street”:
And whereas it is deemed expedient that such resolution should be approved in so far as it refers to the eastern side of the said portion of road, subject to the condition hereinafter mentioned:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the above-in-part-recited Acts, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby approve of the said resolution to the extent hereinbefore mentioned, subject to the condition that no building, or part of a building,
