Land in Otago Land District forfeited.

NOTICE is hereby given that the lease of the under-mentioned land having been declared forfeited by resolution of the Otago Land Board, the said land has thereby reverted to the Crown under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915.

Land in the Canterbury Land District for Sale or Lease to Discharged Soldiers.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands are open for sale or lease under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the regulations thereunder; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, the 8th December, 1919.

The lands may be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or selected on lease for thirty-three years, with right of renewal for further successive terms of thirty-three years and a right to acquire the freehold.

Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, on Thursday, the 11th December, 1919, at 10 o’clock a.m.

The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.

NOTE.—The deferred-payment instalment includes payment for buildings.

DESCRIPTION.

Section 1.—Fairly good agricultural land, somewhat stony in places; watered by water-race; 208 acres sown in oats, balance well grassed. Weighted with £270 for a concrete stable and granary, which may be paid for in cash or by twenty-eight half-yearly instalments of £13 12s. 9d. There is at present on this section an implement-shed for removal to Section 4. Access by good road, about a mile from Lyndhurst Railway-station.

Section 2.—Fair agricultural land, somewhat stony in places; 55 acres in stubble, balance well grassed with the exception of plantations of blue-gums and pines; well watered by water-races. Weighted with £590 for buildings, comprising nine-roomed house, wash-house, and dairy, wool-shed and loft, cow-shed, motor-shed, fowl-house, pigsty, dip and yards, which may be paid for either in cash or by twenty-eight half-yearly instalments of £29 15s. 11. There are also on this section a four-roomed cottage and coal-shed, and a three-roomed cottage, for removal to other sections. This section adjoins Urrall Railway-station.

Section 3.—Fair agricultural land, stony in places, all fairly well grassed; watered by water-races. Weighted with £137 for a four-roomed cottage and coal-shed at present on Section 2, which may be paid for in cash or by twenty-eight half-yearly instalments of £6 18s. 5d. Access by good road, half a mile from Urrall Railway-station.

Section 4.—Good agricultural land, somewhat stony in places, in grass and stubble, with a plantation of Pinus insignis on the south-west boundary; well watered by a water-race. Weighted with £70 for an implement-shed at present on Section 1, which may be paid for in cash or by twenty-eight half-yearly instalments of £3 10s. 9d. About a mile and a quarter from Urrall Railway-station by a good road.

Section 5.—All good agricultural land, about 24 acres in wheat, remainder well grassed, with plantations of young Pinus insignis; well watered by water-races. Weighted with £373 for buildings, comprising six-roomed house, wash-house and storeroom, wool-shed, and motor-shed, which may be paid for either in cash or by twenty-eight half-yearly instalments of £18 16s. 9d. There is also on this section an implement-shed for removal to Section 7. About a mile from Lyndhurst Railway-station by good road.

Section 6.—All good land; about 61 acres in wheat and oats, 30 acres ploughed, remainder in grass, with plantations of young Pinus insignis; well watered by a water-race. Weighted with £280 for buildings, comprising a stable and granary, and a whare, which may be paid for in cash or by twenty-eight half-yearly instalments of £14 2s. 10d. Access is by good road, a mile and a half from Lyndhurst Railway-station.

Section 7.—Very good land, slightly stony in places, 134 acres sown in wheat, remainder in grass, with plantation of young Pinus insignis; well watered by water-races. Weighted with £27 for an implement-shed at present on Section 5, which may be paid for in cash or out of advances. About one mile and three-quarters from Urrall Railway-station—ninety chains by good metalled road, remainder by unformed road, the formation of which will be shortly undertaken.

Section 8.—All good land, stony in places, well grassed; watered by a water-race. Weighted with £80 for a cottage at present on Section 2, which may be paid for in cash or by twenty-eight half-yearly instalments of £4 0s. 10d. About one mile and a half from Urrall Railway-station—ninety chains by good metalled road, remainder by unformed road, the formation of which will be shortly undertaken.

IMPROVEMENTS.

The improvements that go with the land are for boundary and interior fencing valued as follows: Section 1, 252 chains, £118 15s.; Section 2, 467 chains, £218 17s. 6d.; Section 3, 331 chains, £144 12s. 6d.; Section 4, 275 chains, £140 12s. 6d.; Section 5, 578 chains, £328 5s.; Section 6, 490 chains, £243 8s.; Section 7, 354 chains, £165 2s. 6d.; Section 8, 268 chains, £111 10s.
