IT is hereby notified that the undermentioned persons
have been appointed to be the Deputies of the Regis-
trars of Marriages and of Births and Deaths for the districts

Appointments, Promotions, Resignations, and Transfers of
Officers of the Regiment of Royal N.Z. Artillery and Terri-
torial Force.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased
to approve of the appointments, promotions, resigna-
tions, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the
Regiment of Royal N.Z. Artillery and Territorial Force, and
the reposting of officers from the N.Z. Expeditionary Force
to the Regiment of Royal N.Z. Artillery and Territorial Force.

APPOINTMENTS AND PROMOTIONS.

THE REGIMENT OF ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY.
Regimental Sergeant-Major Thomas Dale Wrigley is granted
the temporary rank of Lieutenant whilst attending the
Special Artillery Course of Instruction, Trentham Military
Camp. Dated 20th October, 1919.

N.Z. ARMY PAY DEPARTMENT.
Major Henry Michael Griffen, Director of Financial Services,
to be Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 1st August, 1919.

CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.

No. 2 Field Company.
Major Frederick Waite, D.S.O. (Reserve of Officers), relin-
quishes the appointment of Chief Engineer Instructor in
N.Z. Expeditionary Force training - camps. Dated 14th
December, 1918.

5TH (WELLINGTON) REGIMENT.
Major Rawdon St. John Beere to be Lieutenant-Colonel and
to command the regiment, vice Lieutenant-Colonel (temp,
Colonel) J. J. Esson, C.M.G., seconded for duty as Hono-
rary Financial Adviser. Dated 2nd October, 1919.

N.Z. RIFLE BRIGADE. EARL OF LIVERPOOL'S OWN
(TERRITORIAL).
2nd Lieutenant (temp. Lieutenant) Samuel Frickleton, V.C.,
relinquishes the appointment of Area Officer, Group No. 21,
Canterbury Military District, and is demobilized. Dated
30th September, 1919.

N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.
With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand
Gazette
No. 94, of 31st July, 1919, relating to Captain
Stanley Wilton Hogg, L.R.C.P. Edin., for the words " Dated
10th July, 1919," read "Dated 28th August, 1919."

N.Z. DENTAL CORPS.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) Douglas Maunsell Beere relin-
quishes the temporary rank of Captain on ceasing to be
employed in N.Z.E.F. training-camps, and is demobilized.
Dated 7th February, 1919.

N.Z. ARMY NURSING SERVICE.
Sister Maude Montgomery (temp. Reserve List) is appointed
for duty at Featherston Camp. Dated 16th September,
1919.
Staff Nurse Annie Munro Rose (temp. Reserve List) to be
Sister. Dated 13th November, 1918.

2nd Lieutenant Alfred Saunders Farquhar to be Lieutenant.
Dated 27th October, 1917.
2nd Lieutenant (temp.) Cecil Charles Tills to be 2nd Lieu-
tenant. Dated 1st October, 1919.
2nd Lieutenant (temp.) Albert Warbrick to be 2nd Lieu-
tenant (on probation). Dated 30th September, 1919.
Hugh Meredith McMurtrie to be 2nd Lieutenant (on proba-
tion). Dated 2nd October, 1919.

UNATTACHED LIST, GENERAL LIST.
Harrison Wray (late N.Z. Permanent Staff) to be Lieutenant
(temp.). Dated 1st September, 1919.

RESERVE OF OFFICERS (TEMPORARY).
Lieutenant-Colonel Joseph Garrett Roache, D.S.O., relin-
quishes the appointment of Director of Base Records, with
the rank and pay of Major, and is demobilized. Dated 31st
July, 1919.
Captain Frank Lawton Hindley, O.B.E., relinquishes the
appointment of Deputy Director of Base Records, and is
demobilized. Dated 31st July, 1919.
The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 112, of
11th September, 1919, relating to Lieutenant Charles Bos-
well, M.C., being struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expe-
ditionary Force, is cancelled.

TRANSFERS.

3RD (AUCKLAND) MOUNTED RIFLES.
Lieutenant Douglas Swanston Kidd is transferred to the
Reserve of Officers. Dated 3rd October, 1919.

5TH (WELLINGTON) REGIMENT.
Lieutenant Percy Kenneth Bryan, from the Unattached
List (b), to be Lieutenant. Dated 29th September, 1919.

8TH (SOUTHLAND) REGIMENT.
Major Charles Edward Butcher is transferred to the 12th
(Nelson and Marlborough) Regiment. Dated 23rd Sep-
tember, 1919.

12TH (NELSON AND MARLBOROUGH) REGIMENT.
Major Charles Edward Butcher, from the 8th (Southland)
Regiment, to be Major. Dated 23rd September, 1919.

UNATTACHED LIST (b).
Lieutenant Percy Kenneth Bryan is transferred to the 5th
(Wellington) Regiment. Dated 29th September, 1919.

RESIGNATIONS AND RETIREMENTS.

THE REGIMENT OF ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY.
Lieutenant Colonel (temp. Colonel) John Edward Hume,
C.B.E., is posted to the Retired List, with the rank of
Colonel. Dated 23rd January, 1920.
Lieutenant William Brouncker Powlett Thring resigns his
commission. Dated 12th October, 1919.

8TH (SOUTH CANTERBURY) MOUNTED RIFLES.
The appointment of Captain Roy Thomas Bruce is termi-
nated, he having been granted a commission in the Imperial
Army. Dated 1st August, 1919.

7TH (WELLINGTON WEST COAST) REGIMENT.
Lieutenant John O'Donoghue is retired, under the provisions
of paragraph 127, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 29th
September, 1919.

13TH (NORTH CANTERBURY AND WESTLAND) REGIMENT.
The undermentioned resign their commissions :-
Lieutenant (temp.) James Neil Irvine. Dated 29th Sep-
tember, 1919.
2nd Lieutenant (temp.) Frank Barcham Powell. Dated
26th September, 1919.

UNATTACHED LIST (6).
Captain John Alexander Algie retires under the provisions of
paragraphs 126 and 127, General Regulations, 1913. Dated
26th September, 1919.
