Appointments, Promotions, Resignations, and Transfers of Officers of the Regiment of Royal N.Z. Artillery and Territorial Force.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the Regiment of Royal N.Z. Artillery and Territorial Forces, and the reposting of officers from the N.Z. Expeditionary Force to the Territorial Force.

APPOINTMENTS AND PROMOTIONS.

THE REGIMENT OF ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY.

With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 107, of 28th August, 1919, relating to Lieutenant-Colonel Frank Symon, C.M.G., D.S.O., delete the word “Field.”

1ST MOUNTED RIFLES (CANTERBURY YEOMANRY CAVALRY).

With reference to the notices published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 47, of 17th April, 1919, relating to the transfer of Captain Henry Gillies Livingstone, for the words “Dated 7th October, 1918,” read “Dated 5th March, 1919.”

CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.

N.Z. Railway Battalions (North Island).

With reference to the notices published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 112, of 11th September, 1919, relating to Lieutenant-Colonel George Barley and Captain Albert Ernest Firman being reposted to the Corps, for the words “South Island” read “North Island.”

N.Z. POST AND TELEGRAPH CORPS (SOUTH ISLAND).

Sergeant Henry Mervyn Stephens to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation). Dated 12th September, 1919.

1ST (CANTERBURY) REGIMENT.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 105, of 21st August, 1919, relating to Lieutenant Stuart James Sampson is cancelled.

5TH (WELLINGTON) REGIMENT.

Lieutenant-Colonel (temp. Colonel) James Jacob Esson, C.M.G., appointed Honorary Financial Adviser to the N.Z. Military Forces on 1st August, 1919, is seconded whilst so employed. Dated 1st August, 1919.

Captain Edward Puttick, D.S.O., to be Major, under the provisions of General Headquarters Instructions No. 39 of 22nd July, 1919. Dated 10th September, 1919.

7TH (WELLINGTON WEST COAST) REGIMENT.

Major (Lieutenant-Colonel, Reserve of Officers, Temp.) William Henry Cunningham, D.S.O., to be Lieutenant-Colonel, and to Command the Regiment. Dated 30th August, 1919.

11TH REGIMENT (TARANAKI RIFLES).

Captain William Eugene Stafford Furby to be Major, under the provisions of General Headquarters Instructions No. 39, of 22nd July, 1919. Dated 10th August, 1919.

Captain John Walter Boon (Reserve of Officers) performed the duties of Assistant Camp Quartermaster, Trentham Camp, from 10th April, 1916, to 11th September, 1919, and is demobilized. Dated 9th October, 1919.

15TH (NORTH AUCKLAND) REGIMENT.

2nd Lieutenant Walter Harrison Scott to be Lieutenant. Dated 8th September, 1919.

N.Z. FORCES MOTOR SERVICE CORPS.

Motor-car Section, Wellington.

Major John Mounsey, O.B.E., was employed in N.Z. Expeditionary Force training-camps from 12th August, 1914, to 2nd September, 1919, and is demobilized. Dated 30th September, 1919.

N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.

With reference to the notices published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 74, of 26th June, 1919, relating to Captain William Malcolm Thomson, M.B., for the words “Dated 3rd July, 1919,” read “Dated 7th July, 1919.”

The notices published in the New Zealand Gazettes No. 110 of 4th September, 1919, and No. 88 of 17th July, 1919, relating to Major (temp.) H. J. C. Talbot, are cancelled, and the following substituted:—

Major (temp.) H. J. C. Talbot relinquishes his appointment of Quartermaster in Trentham Military Camp and temporary rank of Major. Dated 11th September, 1919.

N.Z. DENTAL CORPS.

Lieutenant John Hallam Don is temporarily attached for duty to the staff of the Air Force Adviser, and is granted the temporary rank of Captain whilst so employed. Dated 28th July, 1919.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) Eric Spencer Bayley, on ceasing to be employed in N.Z. Expeditionary Force training-camps, relinquishes the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 28th July, 1919.

N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.

The Reverend Robert Barton Gosnell to be Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class. Dated 14th June, 1919.

N.Z. ARMY NURSING SERVICE.

Sister (Masseuse) Beatrice Gubbins to be Charge Sister whilst in charge Massage Department, Wellington. Dated 29th March, 1919.

Staff Nurse Bertha Shaw (temp. Reserve List) is appointed for duty at the Military Hospital, Hanmer. Dated 4th September, 1919.

Masseuse Vera Harris to be Staff Nurse. Dated 3rd September, 1919.

UNATTACHED LIST (b).

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 110, of 4th September, 1919, relating to Lieutenant Arthur Geoffrey Davis (Reserve of Officers Temp.) is cancelled.

The undermentioned to be 2nd Lieutenants:—

Company Sergeant-Major Arthur Geoffrey Davis. Dated 7th August, 1919.

Corporal Eric Arnold Rowe. Dated 2nd September, 1919.

Allen Graham Harris is appointed 2nd Lieutenant (on probation), dated 28th September, 1918, and is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 23rd September, 1919.

With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 76, of 3rd July, 1919, relating to the reposting of 2nd Lieutenant Thomas Cecil Hopkins, for the words “Dated 3rd February, 1919,” read “Dated 14th February, 1919.”

The notices published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 112, of 11th September, 1919, relating to 2nd Lieutenant Randal Greenwood Burt are cancelled.

RESERVE OF OFFICERS (TEMPORARY).

Lieutenant Henry Cedric Fenton is appointed Assistant Vocation Officer, Otago Military District. Dated 1st July, 1919.

7TH (SOUTHLAND) MOUNTED RIFLES.

2nd Lieutenant (Lieutenant Reserve of Officers Temp.) Fraser McIntosh is transferred to the Reserve of Officers with the rank of Lieutenant. Dated 23rd September, 1919.

10TH (NELSON) MOUNTED RIFLES.

Lieutenant Henry Joseph Faulkner is transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated 23rd September, 1919.

Lieutenant Henry Joseph Stace (Reserve of Officers) ceases to be attached for duty to the Regiment. Dated 23rd September, 1919.

NEW ZEALAND GARRISON ARTILLERY.

Auckland G.A. Division.

Major William Robert Golden is transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated 23rd September, 1919.

4TH (OTAGO) REGIMENT.

2nd Lieutenant Philip John Williams is transferred to the 16th (Waikato) Regiment. Dated 15th September, 1919.
