Amending Regulations as to taking the Votes of Members of the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces for the Purposes of the Special Licensing Poll under the Licensing Amendment Act, 1918.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this fourth day of February, 1919.

THE HONOURABLE SIR JAMES ALLEN, K.C.B., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the nineteenth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen, regulations were made with respect to the taking and recording of the votes of members of the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces for the purposes of the special licensing poll to be taken pursuant to the Licensing Amendment Act, 1918:

And whereas it is necessary to amend the said regulations in the manner hereinafter set forth:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by section twelve of the Licensing Amendment Act, 1918, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of that Dominion, doth hereby amend in the manner set forth in the Schedule hereto the hereinbefore-recited regulations of the nineteenth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen (hereinafter referred to as the principal regulations).

SCHEDULE.

  1. For the purpose of the poll to be taken in Great Britain pursuant to the principal regulations, the High Commissioner shall, wherever in his opinion it is practicable so to do, appoint two scrutineers for each polling-place.
  2. (1.) Clause 18 of the principal regulations is hereby revoked.
    (2.) Except as provided with respect to the poll in Great Britain and in New Zealand, no person shall be appointed to act as scrutineer at any polling-place appointed for the purposes of the principal regulations.
