ERRATUM.—In the Schedule to the Proclamation taking land for the purpose of a Post and Telegraph store-site in Block VIII, Rangitoto Survey District, published in Gazette No. 110, page 2772, of 4th ultimo, for “Suburbs of Auckland” read “City of Auckland.”

Redefining the Maori Electoral Districts for the North Island.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the one-hundred-and-eighty-fourth section (subsection three) of the Legislature Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby redefine and declare the boundaries of the Maori electoral districts for the North Island to be those respectively mentioned and set out in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

THE Northern Maori Electoral District comprises all that area of the North Island of New Zealand, together with adjoining islands, lying to the north generally of a line commencing at the North Head, Manukau Harbour, and proceeding thence along the northern side of the said harbour and along a line between the two nearest points of the said harbour and Otahuhu Creek respectively; thence down the middle of the said Otahuhu Creek and Tamaki River to the mouth of the last-named river; thence along a line crossing Hauraki Gulf in a north-easterly direction between Brown’s Island and Motuihi Island, and between Great Barrier Island and Cape Colville.

The Western Maori Electoral District comprises all that area of the North Island of New Zealand, and adjoining islands, lying to the south generally of the Northern Maori Electoral District hereinbefore described, and to the west generally of a line commencing at the mouth of Wairakei Stream, Bay of Plenty, and proceeding thence along the north-western boundaries generally of the Arawa and Ngatitu-Wharetoa tribal territories to Mount Rangitoto in Block IV, Pakaumanu Survey District; thence towards the south-east generally along a mountain-range passing over Ranginui, Te Arero, and Pureora Mountains to Titiraupenga Mountain; thence south-easterly along a right line to the nearest point on Lake Taupo; thence through the middle of that lake and to the mouth of the Upper Waikato River; thence up the middle of that river to its confluence with the Waipakihi River; thence up the middle of the Waipakihi River to its source; thence north-easterly and easterly along the northern watershed of the Rangitikei River; thence in a southerly direction generally along the main watershed formed by the Ruahine, Tararua, and Rimutaka Ranges and down a leading spur to Cape Turakirae in Cook Strait.

The Eastern Maori Electoral District comprises all that area of the North Island of New Zealand, and adjoining islands, lying to the east generally of the eastern boundary of the Western Maori Electoral District hereinbefore described.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, Member of His Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Member of the Royal Victorian Order, Knight of Justice of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this nineteenth day of September, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and nineteen.
