Manurewa Town District not to be Part of County of Manukau.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-second day of September, 1919.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the Governor-General is satisfied that the population of the Manurewa Town District, in the County of Manukau, exceeds five hundred, and the Town Board of the said Manurewa Town District has made application that the said town district shall not form part of the County of Manukau, being the county within the boundaries of which it is situated:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the Town Boards Amendment Act, 1908 (No. 2), and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that, on and after the first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty, the Manurewa Town District shall not form part of the County of Manukau.

Amending the Regulations for the Military Forces of New Zealand.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the Defence Act, 1909, and its amendments, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby amend, in the manner and to the extent set forth in the Schedule hereto, the regulations for the Military Forces of New Zealand made on the twenty-second day of December, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the twenty-seventh day of January, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen; and I do hereby declare that the amendments hereby made shall take effect as from the date of publication thereof in the Gazette.

SCHEDULE.

REGULATIONS FOR N.Z. MILITARY FORCES, 1913.

  1. PARAGRAPH 124 is hereby revoked, and the following substituted:—

  2. Officers on the Reserve of Officers and Retired List, N.Z. Military Forces, will report in writing on the 1st January each year to the Officer Commanding the group in which they are residing, informing that officer of their address. The roll of these officers will be purged annually, and the names of those who have not so reported will be expunged.

Officers on the Reserve of Officers and Retired List, on changing their place of residence, must, within one month of such change, notify (in writing) their new address to the Officer Commanding the group in which they take up their residence.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this fifteenth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, in the presence of—

Setting apart an Allotment in a Kauri-gum District for Selection.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section twenty of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1912, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby set apart the land described in the Schedule hereto for disposal under the section of the Act mentioned.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—MONGONUI COUNTY.

SECTION 48, Block X, Hohoura East Survey District: Area, 1 acre 2 roods 35 perches.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this eighteenth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen.

Appointing a Commission to inquire into the Question of preventing the Flooding of Lands by the Waihou River below the Ngahina Bridge.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

To all to whom these presents shall come, and to FREDERICK WILLIAM FURKERT, Esquire, of Wellington, Assistant Engineer-in-Chief of the Public Works Department; ASHLEY JOHN HUNTER, Esquire, of Auckland, Civil Engineer; and FRANCIS CHARLES HAY, Esquire, of Gisborne, Civil Engineer: Greeting.

WHEREAS it is expedient that an inquiry should be held to consider the question of preventing the flooding of lands by the Waihou River below the Ngahina Bridge, in the Ohinemuri and Thames Counties, Auckland Land District:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers conferred by the Commissions of Inquiry Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, do hereby constitute and appoint you the said

FREDERICK WILLIAM FURKERT,
ASHLEY JOHN HUNTER, and
FRANCIS CHARLES HAY

to be a Commission—

(1.) To inquire into the best means of controlling the Waihou River below the Ngahina Bridge so as to mitigate or prevent, either partially or entirely, the flooding of adjacent lands;

(2.) To report on the schemes which have been devised by the Public Works Department to prevent such flooding;

(3.) To report on any other matters which may be brought before you in connection with the questions referred to, and which in your opinion have any bearing on, these premises.

And, with the like advice and consent, I hereby appoint you the said FREDERICK WILLIAM FURKERT to be Chairman of the said Commission.

And for the better enabling you, the said Commission, to carry these presents into effect you are hereby authorized and empowered to make and conduct any inquiry under these presents at such times and places in the said Dominion as you deem expedient, with power to adjourn from time to time and from place to place as you think fit, and to call before you and examine on oath or otherwise such person or persons as you think capable of affording you information in these premises.

And you are also empowered to call for and examine such books, maps, documents, or records as you deem likely to afford you the fullest information on the subject-matter of the inquiry hereby directed to be made, and to inquire of and concerning the premises by all lawful means whatsoever.

And, using all diligence, you are required to report to me from time to time, under your hands and seals, the result of your inquiry, with any recommendations as you may think fit to make in the premises.

And I do further direct you to report to me within three calendar months from the date hereof your several proceedings and your opinion touching the premises.

And, lastly, it is hereby further declared that these presents are issued under and subject to the provisions of the Commissions of Inquiry Act, 1908.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, Member of His Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Member of the Royal Victorian Order, Knight of Justice of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-second day of September, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and nineteen.
