Notice to Mariners.—No. 59 of 1919.

THE following Notices to Mariners, which have been received from the Hydrographic Office, London, and the Department of Trade and Customs, Melbourne, are published for general information.

ENGLAND.

SOUTH COAST.—BEACHY HEAD.—WRECK SOUTHWARD OF.

Position (approximate).—At a distance of about 21 miles southward from Beachy Head Lighthouse. Lat. 50° 23′ N., long. 0° 12′ E.

Description.—Sunken wreck of an ex-German submarine.

DOVER STRAIT.—FOLKESTONE.—WRECK SOUTH-EASTWARD OF, MARKED BY BUOY.

Position (approximate).—At a distance of about 3¼ miles south-eastward from Folkestone Harbour light. Lat. 51° 3′ 36″ N., long. 1° 16′ 42″ E.

Description.—Sunken wreck of an ex-German submarine, marked by a buoy.

CANADA.

NOVA SCOTIA, SOUTH-EAST COAST.

(1.) Egg Island Approach.—Submarine Bell-buoy withdrawn.

Position.—At a distance of about three-quarters of a cable northward from Egg Island light-and-whistle buoy. Lat. 44° 35¼′ N., long. 62° 49½′ W.

Details.—The submarine bell-buoy has been withdrawn, and is to be expunged from the charts.

(2.) Halifax Approach.—Submarine Bell-buoy withdrawn.

Position.—South-westward of Portuguese Shoal, and at a distance of about half a cable northward of Halifax inner light-and-whistle buoy. Lat. 44° 31¾′ N., long. 63° 30½′ W.

Details.—The submarine bell-buoy has been withdrawn, and is to be expunged from the charts.

Note.—Yarmouth Fairway submarine bell-buoy, which was withdrawn as stated in Admiralty Notice to Mariners No. 406 of 1917, is still shown in the Revised Supplement (3), 1919, to Nova Scotia, &c., Pilot, which should be corrected accordingly.

PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND.—EAST POINT.—WHISTLE-BUOY WITHDRAWN.

Position.—At a distance of about 13 cables eastward from East Point Lighthouse. Lat. 46° 27¾′ N., long. 61° 56¼′ W.

Description.—A red conical whistle-buoy.

Remarks.—The whistle-buoy has been withdrawn, and is to be expunged from the charts.

AUSTRALIA.

EAST COAST, INNER BARRIER ROUTE.—NORTH BARNARD ISLANDS LIGHT.—INTENDED ALTERATION IN CHARACTER.

Mariners and others are hereby notified that the fixed white light on North Barnard Islands (Kent Island) will be replaced by a flashing white light on or about 1st December, 1919.

Position.—On Kent Island. Lat. 17° 40½′ S., long. 146° 11′ E., on Chart No. 2350.

Details.—The fixed white light will be replaced by a new light having the undermentioned characteristics:—

Character.—Flashing white light, showing one flash every five seconds, thus—flash ½ sec., eclipse 4½ secs.

Remarks.—The light will be unwatched, and the Light-keeper withdrawn. The other details of the light will remain unchanged.

Charts affected.—Admiralty Charts Nos. 2350, Double Point to Cape Grafton; 2349, Magnetic Island to Double Point; 2763, Coral Sea and Great Barrier Reefs, Sheet I; 2759A, Australia, Northern Portion; 780, Pacific Ocean, South-west Sheet.

Notice published pursuant to the Provisions of Section 15 of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908, and Sections 18 and 19 of the Public Trust Office Amendment Act, 1913.

NOTICE is hereby given that, no person having taken out administration, the Public Trustee has filed in the Supreme Court at Wellington an election to administer the several estates of the persons deceased whose names, residences, and occupations (so far as known) are hereunder respectively set forth, their gross properties being estimated not to exceed £400 in each case.
