Consenting to the Raising of Loans by certain Local Authorities.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-sixth day of August, 1919.
Present :
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by section twenty-six, subsection one, of the Appropriation Act, 1915, it is provided that, notwithstanding any Act to the contrary, it shall not be lawful or competent for any local authority or for any Harbour Board, during the present war with Germany, to borrow or contract to borrow any money (otherwise than by way of bank overdraft within the limit of its powers, if any, in that behalf), whether from the State Advances Office or from any other source whatever, and whether in pursuance of a special Act or under any other authority whatever, without the precedent consent of the Governor-General in Council:
And whereas application has been made for the consent of the Governor-General in Council to enable the several local authorities mentioned in the Schedule hereto to borrow the loans set out in column “B” therein:
And whereas it is expedient that the precedent consent of the Governor-General in Council should issue:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby consent to the raising of the loans hereinafter mentioned by the several local authorities set out in the Schedule hereto, provided that the rate of interest at which the loans or any of them are to be raised shall in no case produce to the lender a return exceeding five and one-quarter pounds per centum per annum; and it is hereby declared that this Order in Council is made under the provisions in that behalf of the Appropriation Act, 1915, and shall operate accordingly as a consent of the Governor-General in Council to the raising of the loans hereby authorized.

Conferring the Powers and Functions of a Maori Council with respect to Registration of Dogs within a Maori Council District on European Local Authority.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-sixth day of August, 1919.
Present :
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by section sixteen of the Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1916, it is enacted that where, in the opinion of the Native Minister, any Maori Council has failed properly to carry out the duties imposed upon it by section eight of the Maori Councils Amendment Act, 1903, with respect to the registration of dogs, or to enter into an arrangement with a European local authority as authorized by that section, the Governor-General may by Order in Council confer upon any such European local authority all the powers and functions of the Maori Council with respect to the registration of dogs in the district of that Maori Council:
And whereas the Native Minister is of opinion that the Tauranga Maori Council has failed properly to carry out its duties with respect to the registration of dogs owned by Maoris, or to enter into an agreement with a European local authority as authorized as aforesaid:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon him by section sixteen of the Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1916, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby confer all the powers and functions with regard to the registration of dogs hitherto held by the Tauranga Maori Council upon the Tauranga County Council.

Revoking the Naturalization of Even Christensen.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-sixth day of August, 1919.
Present :
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS letters of naturalization were issued to Even Christensen on the fourth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight:
And whereas the Governor-General in Council is satisfied that it is expedient for the welfare of the Realm to revoke the naturalization of the said Even Christensen:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the Revocation of Naturalization Act, 1917, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare that the naturalization of the said Even Christensen shall be revoked, and that the said person shall cease to be a British subject naturalized in New Zealand as from the first day of September, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen.

Consenting to Land being taken for the Purposes of a Harbour-work in Block V, Ikitara Survey District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this nineteenth day of August, 1919.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the Public Works Act, 1908, it is, in section fifteen thereof, inter alia, enacted that, except for the purpose of a railway or defence purposes, or for the purposes of any other work to be made under the authority of a special Act, nothing in this Act contained shall authorize the taking of any land occupied by any building, yard, garden, orchard, or vineyard, or in bona fide occupation as an ornamental park or pleasure-ground, without the previous consent of the Governor-General in Council:
And whereas part of the land described in the Schedule hereto is occupied by an orchard and buildings, and the Wanganui Harbour Board has applied for the consent of Governor-General in Council to the taking of the said land for the purposes of a slip, such slip being a harbour-work within the meaning of the definition of “harbour-works” in the Harbours Amendment Act, 1910, and it is expedient that such consent should be given:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the above-in-part-recited Act, and of all other powers enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby consent to the land described in the Schedule hereto being taken for the purposes above named.
