The area within a line commencing at the junction of the railway-line with the Otaki River, thence following up the river to a point opposite Mount Crawford on the Tararua Ranges, thence in a direct line to Mount Crawford, thence north to Mount Dundas, thence north to Mount Te Paki, thence in a north-westerly direction to Shannon, thence along the railway-line southward to the point of commencement.
All that piece of land containing 500 acres, being Section 16, Block I, Akatarawa Survey District, which land is shown as an acclimatization reserve on the provisional plan of the Hutt County in the Crown Lands Office at Wellington.
Also all that piece of land containing 6,500 acres, being parts of Blocks VIII, IX, X, and XVII, Rimutaka Survey District, and shown on the Crown Lands provisional map of the Hutt County as a timber and water reserve (the said land being the catchment area for the Wellington City Council's reservoir situated at Wainuiomata).
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this twenty-fourth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen.

Amending the Regulations for the Military Forces of New Zealand.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the Defence Act, 1909, and its amendments, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby amend, in the manner and to the extent set forth in the Schedule hereto, the Regulations for the Military Forces of New Zealand made on the twenty-second day of December, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the twenty-seventh day of January, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen; and I do hereby declare that the amendments hereby made shall take effect as from the date of publication thereof in the Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
SECTION V.—REGISTRATION, ENROLMENT, AND POSTING.
(1.) PARAGRAPH 180 as amended by Gazette dated 9th January, 1919, is hereby further amended by the addition of the following sentence at the end of the paragraph:—
“Senior Cadets become liable for registration and training in June of the year in which they attain the age of fourteen years, or on any later date on which they cease to attend school. Those who attain the age of fourteen years between the 1st June and 31st December will, providing they are not attending school, be posted at the posting in June that year, and those who are attending school will be posted to companies of Senior Cadets by Officers i/c Groups directly they leave school.”
SECTION XIII.—RIFLE CLUBS.
(2.) Paragraph 620 is hereby revoked, and the following substituted :—
“620. The Director of Military Training shall be the Rifle Club representative at General Headquarters. All orders and directions of the General Officer Commanding with respect to the administration of Rifle Clubs will be communicated by the D.M.T. to O.C. Districts, and subsequently communicated by O.C. Districts to the Rifle Clubs through the usual channel.”
(3.) After paragraph 629 add :—
“629A. Rifle clubs will be issued with paper and patches for targets, as laid down for the Territorial Force in Appendix E, N.Z. Equipment Regulations. Indents for the same will be made annually on District Ordnance Officers by the Presidents of clubs concerned. A certificate in the body of the indent certifying that the demand is based on the number of rounds of ammunition issued free to the club, as laid down in para. 638 (1), will be signed by the Club President before the indent is forwarded to the District Ordnance Officer.”
(4.) After paragraph 634 add :—
“634A. Rifle Clubs may purchase targets at cost price to the Department, plus cost of transport from Ordnance Stores to destination. Targets will be forwarded in sections. Applications to purchase, giving full particulars as to size and class of target required, will be made to District Ordnance Officers, and must be signed by the President of the club concerned. Within eight days of the receipt of the account for the same the money must be paid into the nearest branch of the Bank of New Zealand to the credit of the Public Account and the bank receipt forwarded to the Command Paymaster of the District concerned.”
(5.) Paragraph 638 is hereby amended by revoking sub-paragraph (1) thereof, and substituting the following :—
“(1.) For each ordinary member, 200 rounds annually.”
(6.) Paragraph 640 is hereby revoked, and the following substituted :—
“640. Each ordinary member of a Rifle Club shall be entitled to purchase 200 rounds of ammunition per annum at the Department’s contract price.”
Dominion Rifle Association.
(7.) After paragraph 656 add :—
“656A. (1.) The Dominion Rifle Association is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Defence.
“The General Officer Commanding the New Zealand Military Forces shall be the President and the Heads of Branches at General Headquarters shall be Vice-Presidents and ex officio members of the Executive Committee.
“(2.) The Executive Officer will be appointed by the General Officer Commanding the N.Z. Military Forces. He will be Chairman of the Executive Committee and have full control of the annual rifle meetings, subject always to regulations approved by the General Officer Commanding.
“The Executive Officer, whilst acting as such, will be temporarily attached to the General Headquarters Staff.
“The Executive Committee will be composed of—
“(a.) Two or more officers selected by the General Officer Commanding;
“(b.) One officer from each Military District nominated by the O.C. District;
“(c.) One Rifle Club official (as defined in para. 621) in each district, nominated by District Rifle Clubs. Nominations will be submitted to the O.C. District for final selection.
“Names of representatives referred to in (b) and (c) above will be forwarded to the G.O.C. for his approval or otherwise.
“(3.) The Committee shall be nominated annually prior to the 1st day of April, on which date the functions of the former Committee shall cease.
“(4.) The annual meeting of the Executive Committee shall be held in Wellington in the month of March of each year. Six shall form a quorum.
“(5.) The Executive Committee shall annually appoint an Auditor or Auditors, who will, as soon as possible after each Annual Prize Meeting, draw up and present a balance-sheet for presentation to the next meeting of the Executive Committee. A certified copy of this balance-sheet will be sent to the G.O.C.
“(6.) The Executive Committee shall appoint a Secretary, and he shall receive, subject to the approval of the General Officer Commanding, such remuneration as the Executive Committee shall decide.
“(7.) The Executive Officer and the Director of Military Training shall arrange a programme and compile rules and instructions for the Annual Prize Meeting. The programme shall be submitted by circular to the Executive Committee, and the Committee shall have power to alter, amend, or cancel any portion of the programme, rules, or instructions for the annual meetings, subject to the approval of the General Officer Commanding.
“(8.) The Executive Officer and the D.M.T. shall expend any grant that the Government may make to the Association, or any other funds of the Association, in prizes for the meeting, or in such other manner for the benefit of the Association as may be approved by the General Officer Commanding.
“Annual Prize Meeting.
“The camp, including ranges, shall for all purposes be deemed a camp within the meaning of the Defence Act, 1909.
“The camp Staff shall consist of—
“(a.) A Camp Commandant (Executive Officer).
“(b.) An Adjutant ... To be appointed by the G.O.C., “(c.) A Quartermaster and, subject to the exigencies “(d.) The Range Staff of the service, shall be selected (eight officers) annually from the Permanent Force.
“Should the exigencies of the service not admit of selection from the Permanent Force, officers of the Territorial Force shall be selected subject to the approval of the G.O.C. Officers so selected shall receive pay of rank and messing allowances as laid down in Section IV, Financial Instructions and Allowance Regulations, N.Z. Military Forces.
“(9.) The Honorary Staff for duty at Annual Prize Meetings shall be nominated by the Executive Officer, and names submitted for the approval or otherwise of the G.O.C.
“(10.) In so far as the exigencies of the service will admit, N.C.O.s and privates of the Permanent Force shall be detailed for duties as markers, telephone attendants, supervising, &c. Should the exigencies of the service not admit of the numbers required being detailed for the above-mentioned duties, the necessary personnel will be selected from the Territorial Force. In the event of the personnel from the Territorial Force not being available the Executive Officer shall employ civilian labour.
