Purchase of Slipe Wool by the Government.
WHEREAS for the purposes of the present war it is necessary that His Majesty’s Government of the United Kingdom should obtain further supplies of wool from New Zealand: And whereas by Proclamations of the 21st day of December, 1916, and the 15th day of October, 1917, all wool of the 1916–17 and 1917–18 clip respectively in New Zealand was requisitioned by and on behalf of His Majesty, but it was expressly declared that slipe wool would not be subject to requisition thereunder: And whereas arrangements have been made whereby the Government of New Zealand will acquire on behalf of His Majesty’s said Government certain supplies of slipe wool from freezing companies:
Now, therefore, it is hereby notified as follows for the information of all persons concerned:—
- The New Zealand Government (hereinafter referred to as “the Government”) is prepared to purchase for and on behalf of His Majesty’s Government of the United Kingdom all slipe wool held in store in New Zealand on the 16th November, 1916, or produced thereafter in New Zealand up to and including the 30th November, 1918, by any of the freezing companies named in the First Schedule hereto, on the terms and conditions and in accordance with the scheme hereinafter set forth.
Special Provisions applying to the Purchase of Slipe Wool invoiced prior to the 1st April, 1918.

The following conditions will govern the purchase of slipe wool in respect of which invoices have been rendered to the Department of Imperial Government Supplies prior to the 1st April, 1918:—

The price to be paid for the slipe wool will be determined as follows:—
(a.) From the average gross price per pound received for each and every grade of slipe wool produced by any such company and sold in London between the 1st January and the 31st December, 1914, there shall be deducted the sum of 1¼d. per pound, representing shipping expenses, freight, and other charges.
(b.) To the residue in each case shall be added a sum equal to 55 per cent. thereof.
