Lands temporarily reserved in the Auckland, Canterbury, and Southland Land Districts.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-twenty-first section of the Land Act, 1908, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

And whereas by the sixty-ninth section of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, it is further provided that the Governor-General may from time to time, as he thinks fit, set aside reserves for any specified public purpose out of land acquired under the last-mentioned Act, provided that no land so acquired shall be set aside for endowments:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Acts, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the lands in the Auckland, Canterbury, and Southland Land Districts described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in the said Schedule specified at the end of the respective descriptions of the lands so intended to be temporarily reserved:

SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 8,354 acres, more or less, being Section 2, Block I, and Section 1, Block IV, Ngongotaha Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by Run 81, 17666·3 links; towards the south-east generally by a public road, 1175·8, 663·1, 1517·5, 2399·8, 1417·2, 595, 430·6, 3216·9, 832·6, 780, 467·5, 1267·3, and 260 links; by a reserve along the bank of the Whirinaki Stream, by the crossing of the said reserve, and a public road, 2699·4, 989·7, 435·4, 594·2, 365·4, 298·9, 1045·4, 280·5, 1013·7, 497·9, 864·6, 1300·5, 1700·7, 626·4, 888·5, 1578·7, and 2410·2 links; towards the south-west generally by a road reserve along the bank of the Waikato River, 410·3, 4595·9, 3740·3, 2545·2, 1843·2, 2327·2, 2482, 2020·8, and 2109·4 links; towards the north-west generally by the Whakamaru-Maungaiti No. 2 Block, 5615·1 and 19670·7 links; by Section 1, Block I aforesaid, 7401·7, 2448·1, 2486·2, 688·3, 2462, 1333·9, 910·1, 1931·3, 1363·4, 1148·7, 1491·4, 1999, 1369·5, 966·6, 920·7, 711·1, 3232·3, 1361, 1044, 882·3, 533·7, and 3825 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 8/1/25, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. (Auckland Plans Nos. 19487 and 19495.) For a forest plantation.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.

All that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 10 acres, more or less, being Reserve No. 3983, situated in Block V, Mount Thomas Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east and south-east by Section 6, Lees Valley Settlement, 997·4 and 1058 links respectively; towards the south-west by a public road, 1044·1 links; and towards the north-west by the White Rock—View Hill Road, 18·3 and 1022·4 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 6/1/173, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. For a site for a roadman’s hut.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.

All that area in the Southland Land District, containing by admeasurement 32 perches, more or less, being Lot 16, The Rocks Township (Land Transfer Plan No. 1708), being part of Section 7, Block II, Jacobs River Hundred. Bounded towards the north-west by Lex Street, 100 links; towards the north-east by Lot 17, L.T. Plan 1708 aforesaid, 200 links; towards the south-east and south-west by part of Section 7, Block II aforesaid, 100 links and 200 links respectively: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 6/3/124, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red. For a site for a post-office.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this sixth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen.

PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by the two-hundred-and-eighty-eighth section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that

HERBERT JAMES KING WINSTONE,

being a person holding the office of Postmaster under the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, at Hanmer Springs, is authorized to take and receive statutory declarations under the two-hundred-and-eighty-eighth section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1908.

As witness my hand this third day of May, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen.
