I hereby certify that the foregoing is a correct copy of a resolution passed at a duly constituted meeting of the Horowhenua County Council held on the 13th day of April, 1918.

WANGANUI JOCKEY CLUB.

REGULATIONS.

(Under the Gaming Act, 1908.)

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Wanganui Jockey Club, a racing club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “the said club”), doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to the Wanganui Racecourse, situate at Wanganui, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings.

  1. In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “racing club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908; and the words “Wanganui Racecourse” mean and include the Wanganui Racecourse Reserve, and all other lands adjacent thereto and for the time being leased or otherwise occupied or enclosed by the said club and used by the said club, together with the said Wanganui Racecourse Reserve, for race meetings.

  2. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the part of the said Wanganui Racecourse Reserve while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely:—

(a.) Bookmakers.

(b.) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere, if affiliated with the Racing Conference or Trotting Conference of New Zealand.

(c.) Common prostitutes, and persons who habitually consort with thieves or with persons who have no lawful visible means of support.

  1. The regulations of the said club made the 1st day of December, 1915, are hereby repealed.

The foregoing regulations were formed, adopted, and made by the Wanganui Jockey Club at a meeting of the committee of the said club held on the 10th day of April, 1918.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND.

In the matter of the Counties Act, 1908, and the Public Works Act, 1908.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Mangonui County Council proposes, under the provisions of the above-mentioned Acts, to execute a certain public work—namely, the construction of a road; and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the public office of the Clerk to the said Council situate at Mangonui, and is open for inspection (without fee) by all persons during ordinary office hours.

All persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of such land, who have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of the said land, must state their objections in writing, and send the same, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the County Clerk at the Council Chambers.

SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of parcel of land required to be taken: 2 acres 1 rood 36 perches.

Being portion of O.L.C. 159, situate in the Takahue Survey District, Block I.

PUKEKOHE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by section 18 (2) of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Pukekohe Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:

That, for the purpose of providing interest (5¼ per cent.) and sinking fund (1 per cent.) on an additional loan of £750, decided to be raised by the Pukekohe Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the completion of roads and streets improvement and installation of electric light, the said Pukekohe Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1/29 of 1d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property comprising the whole of the Borough of Pukekohe; and that such special rate shall form part of the special rate of 7/12d. made and levied in respect of the original loan of £12,000 for roads and streets improvement, electric light, and waterworks purposes, being an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of September in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of ten years as from the 1st day of December, 1916, or until the loan is fully paid off.

I hereby certify that the above is a true copy of and extract from the minutes of the proceedings of the Pukekohe Borough Council as passed at a meeting of the said Council at Pukekohe on the 20th day of March, 1918.

HUNGAHUNGA DRAINAGE BOARD.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.—LOAN OF £450.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by section 18 (1) of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Hungahunga Drainage Board hereby resolves as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing the interest at the rate of four pounds ten shillings per centum per annum and also other charges on a loan of £450, authorized to be raised by the Hungahunga Drainage Board, under the above-mentioned Act, being an amount equal to ten per cent. on the original loan of £4,500 raised by the said Board for the purpose of cleansing, widening, and deepening existing watercourses, drains, and outfalls, and to make and construct new watercourses, drains, and outfalls, such original loan having been found insufficient to complete the said works, the said Hungahunga Drainage Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of one penny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property classified “A” as set out in the classification Schedule hereunder, threefarthings in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property classified “B” as set out in the Schedule hereunder, and one halfpenny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property classified “C” as set out in the Schedule hereunder; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of November in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of 36½ years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
