The foregoing by-laws were made by the Waihi Fire Board at a duly constituted meeting of the said Board held on 5th December, 1917.

Notice respecting Proposed Town District, Henderson, County of Waitemata.

Wellington, 12th April, 1918.
IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, under the Town Boards Act, 1908, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be constituted a town district under the said Act, by name the Town District of Henderson. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the constitution of the said town district which they desire to lodge, within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
DESCRIPTION OF BOUNDARIES OF PROPOSED TOWN DISTRICT OF HENDERSON.
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District situated in Blocks XIV, Waitemata, and II, Titirangi Survey Districts. Bounded commencing at a point in the middle of the Henderson Creek at the production of the northern boundary of Lot 1 on plan deposited at the office of the District Land Registrar, Auckland, numbered 670; towards the east generally by a line along the middle of Henderson Creek aforesaid to the production of the north-eastern boundary of Lot 11 on plan deposited as aforesaid, numbered 6760; towards the north-east generally by a line to and by the north-east boundary of Lot 11 aforesaid; the crossing of the public road, by the north-east and south-east boundaries of Lot 6 on plan 6760 aforesaid, by the north-east boundary of Lot 21 of Allotment 90, Waikomiti Parish, the crossing of a public road, and by the north-east boundary of Lot 22 of Allotment 90 aforesaid; towards the south-east generally by the eastern boundary of the last-mentioned Lot 22, by Lot 8 on plan deposited as aforesaid, numbered 11732, and the production of its north-western boundary to the middle of the road forming its south-western boundary, by the middle of the said road in a north-westerly direction to the middle of the Great North Road, by the middle of the said Great North Road to the production of the south-eastern boundary of Section 4, Waari Hamlet, to and by the last-mentioned boundary by Sections 5 and 6 and part of Section 12, Waari Hamlet, to and by the middle of the road forming the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18, Waari Hamlet aforesaid, to and by the middle of the Waari Hamlet Road to the production of the eastern boundary of Section 20, Waari Hamlet aforesaid, and by a line to and by the said eastern boundary of Section 20; towards the south generally by the southern boundary of the last-mentioned Section 20 and Section 22, Waari Hamlet aforesaid, to the south-west corner of the last-mentioned section, by a line to the south-east corner of Lot 5 of the suburban allotments at Henderson’s Mill, being part of Allotment 2, Waikomiti Parish, and by the southern boundary of Lot 5 aforesaid and its production to the Railway Reserve; towards the south-west generally by the aforesaid Railway Reserve to the production of the southern boundary of Lot 21, a subdivision of parts of Allotment 7, Waipareira Parish, and 2, Waikomiti Parish, to and by the aforesaid southern boundary of Lot 21, the crossing of a public road, and by the southern and south-western boundaries of Plumer Hamlet, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the middle of Opanuku Stream; towards the west generally by a line along the middle of the Opanuku Stream aforesaid to the production of the north-east boundary of Lot 33 on plan deposited as aforesaid, numbered 1467; again towards the south-west generally to and by the north-east boundary of Lot 33 aforesaid, by the crossing of Pederson’s Road and the Railway Reserve, and by the Railway Reserve to the north-west boundary of Lot 6 on plan No. 1467 aforesaid; towards the north-west generally by the north-west boundary of Lot 6 aforesaid and its production to and by the middle of the Swanson-Henderson Road, by the middle of Lamark and Rathgar Roads; and towards the north by the middle of Leighton Road to the middle of Lincoln Road, by a line to the north-west corner of Lot 1 on plan 670 first mentioned and by the northern boundary of the said Lot 1 and its production to the point of commencement.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Chemists and Druggists’ Shops in the City of Nelson, under the Shops and Offices Act.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists and druggists’ shops in the City of Nelson, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the city shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: (a) On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 6 p.m., on Saturdays at 9.30 p.m., and on Wednesdays any shop that is reopened at 7 p.m. pursuant to section 18 (d) of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the Act”), shall be again closed at 8 p.m.; (b) should, however, the occupier of any shop bound by the provisions of this requisition, under and by virtue of the provisions of section 19 of the Act, observe any special day therein provided for other than Wednesday as the statutory closing-day, and reopen his shop at 7 p.m. pursuant to section 18 (d) of the Act, then and in such case the closing-hour on the evening of that day for any such shop shall be 8 p.m., and the closing-hour on Wednesday shall be 6 p.m., provided that if such special day falls on Saturday the closing-hour on Friday shall be 9.30 p.m.:
And whereas the Nelson City Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists and druggists’ shops within the City of Nelson:
Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 22nd day of April, 1918, all chemists and druggists’ shops in the City of Nelson shall be closed accordingly.
The notices gazetted on the 12th day of March, 1908, the 11th and 18th days of February, 1909, and the 1st day of September, 1910, respectively are hereby cancelled.

Alterations to the Scale of Fares, Rates, and Charges in Force upon the New Zealand Government Railways.
IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me under the Government Railways Act, 1908, and its amendments, I, William Herbert Herries, Minister of Railways, do hereby make the following alterations in the scale of fares, rates, and charges in force on the New Zealand Government railways open for traffic, such alterations to come into force on and after the 1st day of May, 1918, and to be subject to the additions to rates and charges provided for by New Zealand Gazette of 16th September, 1915 (Gazette slip 3/15), and New Zealand Gazette of 22nd November, 1917 (Gazette slip 4/17).
