Lands withdrawn from State-forest Reservation.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the lands specified in the Schedule hereto are State forests under the control of the Commissioner of State Forests appointed under the State Forests Act, 1908 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), and the said lands are now no longer required for State-forest purposes: And whereas plans showing the extent and position of the said lands, and a statement of the reasons why they are no longer required for State-forest purposes, have been laid before both Houses of Parliament for a period of thirty days, and no resolution has been passed by either of such Houses objecting to the issue of this Proclamation:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section twenty-eight of the said Act, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke the Proclamations specified in the said Schedule, so far as they relate to the lands described in the said Schedule, as from the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette; and doth hereby proclaim and declare that from and after such date the parcels of land described in the said Schedule shall be no longer subject to the provisions of the said Act.

SCHEDULE.
MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT.
All that area containing by admeasurement 1,480 acres, more or less, situated in Block II, Tennyson Survey District, and Block III, Wakamarina Survey District, commencing on the west side of the Opouri Road, and bounded towards the north by the remaining portion of the State forest, 4900 links; thence towards the east by land reserved for the growth and preservation of timber, 3000 links; thence by a spur leading in a southerly direction to the summit of a ridge that runs westerly from Tunapai Trig.; thence easterly along the aforesaid ridge to Tunapai Trig.; thence again towards the east generally by land reserved for the growth and preservation of timber, 2700, 5050, and 4000 links, to the north-east corner of Section 3, Block III, Wakamarina Survey District; thence towards the south by Section 3 aforesaid, 10026·8 links, to the Opouri River; thence generally towards the west by that river; thence again towards the north by a remaining portion of the State forest, 1144·1 links, to the Opouri Road; thence again towards the west by the western side of that road, 4480 links, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 22/1653b, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
Also all that area, containing by admeasurement 126 acres, more or less, being part of Section 4, Block III, Wakamarina Survey District, commencing at peg XIX on the north-eastern boundary of Section 4 aforesaid, and bounded towards the north-east by the remaining portion of State forest, 6624·7 links; towards the south and west by the remaining portion of Section 4, 5600 and 4950 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 22/1653b, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
Also all that area containing by approximation 500 acres, situated in Block V, Wakamarina Survey District, commencing at the north-eastern corner of Section 3, Block V aforesaid; thence by the northern boundary of that section to the south-eastern corner of Section 32, Block V aforesaid; thence by the south-eastern boundary of Section 32 aforesaid, by a public road, and by the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 1 and 2, Block V aforesaid, to a junction of spurs on the ridge forming the south-eastern boundary of said Section 1; thence by a spur leading in a south-easterly direction to a stream flowing into the Rai River; thence again by a spur leading in a south-easterly direction to the watershed of the said stream and of a stream flowing into the Pelorus River; thence by that watershed to the north-eastern corner of Section 3 aforesaid, the point of commencement. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 22/1653c, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
Proclamation dated the 12th day of October, 1886, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 54, of the 14th day of October, 1886.
SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.
All that area in the Southland Land District, containing 147 acres, more or less, being abandoned part of sawmill area.510 in Block III, Longwood District, and bounded commencing at the north-west corner of said sawmill area 510, thence due east for a distance of 2100 links, thence due south for a distance of 7000 links, thence due west along the State-forest boundary for a distance of 2100 links, thence due north to the commencing-point.
Also all that area in Blocks III and XIII, Longwood District aforesaid, containing 1,181 acres, more or less, being parts of abandoned sawmill areas, and bounded commencing at the north-west corner of sawmill area 428; thence at a bearing of 11° 27′ for a distance of 4000 links; thence easterly in a right line to the north-west corner of sawmill site 591; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundary of sawmill site 591 aforesaid to the north-west corner of sawmill site 438; thence easterly along the north boundary of said sawmill site 438 to the western boundary of sawmill area 485, thence north to its north-west corner; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundary of said sawmill area 485 to its north-east corner; thence south to the north-west corner of sawmill area 515; thence east along the north boundary of sawmill area 515 aforesaid for a distance of 3500 links; thence south to the south boundary of said sawmill area 515; thence east for a distance of 250 links; thence south for a distance of 6000 links; thence at a bearing of 131° for a distance of 2700 links; thence south-westerly to the north-east corner of Section 11, Block XII, Longwood District (State-forest boundary); thence westerly, north-westerly, again westerly, northerly, and again westerly along the State-forest boundary to the point of commencement. As the same are delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 22/2053A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
All that area in Blocks XVII and XIX, Jacob’s River Hundred, and Block IX, Longwood District, being the whole of sawmill Area 444B, containing 150 acres. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 22/2053B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
All that area in Block VII, Oteramika Hundred, being part of abandoned sawmill areas 191B and 191C, containing 140 acres, more or less, and bounded as follows: Commencing at the north-west corner of sawmill area 191B aforesaid; thence east to the east boundary of Block VII aforesaid; thence south to the State-forest boundary; thence west, south-west, north-west, and north along the State-forest boundary to the place of commencement. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 22/2053C, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
Proclamation dated the 24th day of February, 1886, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 11, of the 4th day of March, 1886.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Member of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this fourteenth day of January, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and eighteen.
