Rates of Postage on Government Packages within New Zealand.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this nineteenth day of December, 1918.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by Orders in Council dated the seventeenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and ten, and the twenty-fourth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the eighteenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and ten, and the twenty-seventh day of September, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, respectively, regulations and rates of postage were made and fixed under the authority of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), for the transmission of letters and other postal packets through the post to places within or beyond New Zealand :
And whereas it is desirable to alter and amend such regulations and rates in the manner hereinafter set forth :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon him by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the regulation and fix the rates of postage set forth in the Schedule hereto; and doth further order and declare that such regulation and rates shall be substituted for any of the same purport heretofore made and fixed, and shall come into force on the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen.
SCHEDULE.
THE rate for Government packages, within New Zealand only, shall be 4d. for the first 1 lb., 2d. for each additional 1 lb. up to 6 lb., and 1d. for each additional 1 lb. beyond 6 lb. up to 28 lb. An extra ½d. (war tax) must be added to the postage on each package.
The limits of weight and size for each Government package shall be as follows :—
For places served by rail or steamer: Weight, 28 lb.; length, 3 ft. 6 in.; and length and girth combined, 7 ft.
For places served only by wheeled conveyance: Weight 11 lb. (except in the case of packets addressed by Registrars of Electors and Returning Officers to “The Clerk of Writs, Wellington,” for which the limit is 20 lb.); length, 3 ft. 6 in.; and length and girth combined, 6 ft.
For places not served by rail, wheeled conveyance, or steamer: Weight, 5 lb.; length, 2 ft.; and breadth or depth, 1 ft.

Notice respecting Proposed Drainage District of Mangaorongo, Counties of Waitomo and West Taupo.
Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 18th December, 1918.
IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, under the Land Drainage Act, 1908, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be constituted a drainage district under the said Act, by name the Drainage District of Mangaorongo. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the constitution of the said drainage district which they desire to lodge, within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
DESCRIPTION OF BOUNDARIES OF PROPOSED DRAINAGE DISTRICT OF MANGAORONGO.
ALL that area in the Waitomo and West Taupo Counties, situated in the Auckland Land District, bounded towards the north-west and north-east generally, commencing at the south-eastern corner of Otorohanga No. 1D Block in Block IV, Orahiri Survey District, by the south-eastern boundary of Otorohanga No. 1D aforesaid to the southern side of a public road; thence by the southern side of that road in an easterly direction to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section 15, Block VII, Mangaorongo Survey District; thence to and by the northern and eastern boundaries of that section to its south-eastern corner; thence towards the south-west generally by the southern boundaries of Sections 15 and 14, Block VII aforesaid, to the western boundary of Block VII; thence by the western boundary of that block, the southern boundary of Block VI, to the right bank of the Waipa River; thence by the right bank of the Waipa River to the place of commencement.
