Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the settlement lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same are hereby set apart and declared open for disposal by way of sale or lease to discharged soldiers, on special tenures, in the manner provided in the said Act.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section four of the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the areas of settlement lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same are hereby set apart and declared open for disposal by way of sale or lease to discharged soldiers, under special tenures, in the manner provided in the said Act.

Proclaiming Native Land to be Crown Land under Section 374 of the Native Land Act, 1909.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section three hundred and seventy-four of the Native Land Act, 1909 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), and by section fourteen of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1914, it is provided, inter alia, that, on being satisfied that the purchase of any Native land has been duly completed by or on behalf of the Crown under the authority of the said Act, the Governor-General may issue a Proclamation that such land has become Crown land:

And whereas the purchase of the Native land set out in the Schedule hereto has been duly completed by or on behalf of the Crown under the authority of the said Act:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by section three hundred and seventy-four of the said Act, and by section fourteen of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1914, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim the land set out in the Schedule hereto to be Crown land.

TE KARAE No. 2A Block: Approximate area, 1,179 acres; Maungataniwha and Mangamuka Survey Districts.

Land in Block X, Rangaunu Survey District, taken for the more Effective Carrying-out of Drainage or other Works in the Kaitaia Drainage Area, and for the Successful Conduct of such Drainage Operations.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS it is provided by section seven of the Swamp Drainage Act, 1915, that the Governor-General may from time to time take, under the Public Works Act, 1908, as for a public work, or purchase, whether under the provisions of Part XIX of the Native Land Act, 1909, or otherwise, any area of land within the drainage area, the acquisition of which is, in the opinion of the Governor-General, necessary for the more effective carrying-out of the drainage or other works authorized by the former Act or for the better disposal of the Crown or other land within the drainage area:

And whereas the Governor-General has, in terms of section seven aforesaid, expressed the opinion that the acquisition of the land described in the Schedule hereto is necessary for the more effective carrying-out of the drainage or other works and for the successful conduct of the drainage operations in the Kaitaia Drainage Area:

And whereas all the conditions precedent required by law to be observed and performed prior to the taking of such land for the purposes hereinbefore specified have been observed and performed:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the Swamp Drainage Act, 1915, and the Public Works Act, 1908, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the more effective carrying-out of drainage or other works in the Kaitaia Drainage Area, and for the successful conduct of such drainage operations, and shall vest in His Majesty the King as from the date hereinafter mentioned; and I do also hereby declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on and after the sixteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen.
