Amending Regulations for the Equipment of the New Zealand Military Forces.
LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authority conferred on me by the Defence Act, 1909, and its amendments, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby amend, in the manner and to the extent set forth in the Schedule hereto, the “Regulations for the Equipment of the New Zealand Military Forces,” made on the fourteenth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the same date; and I do hereby declare that the amendments hereby made shall have effect as from the date of publication thereof in the Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
REGULATIONS FOR THE EQUIPMENT OF NEW ZEALAND MILITARY FORCES.
APPENDICES.
APPENDICES 6, 6A, and 6B are hereby cancelled, and the following substituted:—
APPENDIX 6.
MUSKETRY EQUIPMENT—ISSUE OF.
When drawing up the annual estimates of musketry appliances and targets, &c., it must be borne in mind that only such kit as is actually required will be included.
The list laid down is very full, but each range will only require appliances suitable to its characteristics. It does not follow that because the list of stores contains all kinds of articles that any one range will require the whole.
Targets will be issued to ranges in accordance with para. 198, Musketry Regulations, Part II, 1910.
Miniature targets for use on thirty-yard and miniature-cartridge ranges will be issued at rates laid down by the General Staff, and which will be published annually in General Orders.
It is to be distinctly understood that every paper target should be sufficient for two firers firing one practice. The exception to this rule being the rapid, where ten hits may be obtained. No. 3 target (miniature figure) should take several brown-paper facings before the target becomes useless.
First-class targets should last several years, owing to the small amount of use which they receive. Second-class targets and fire “3” targets will generally require renewing biannually.
Appliances will not be changed when worn out, unless the worn-out article is returned to store. Exchanges will be effected as laid down in para. 120, Regulations for Camps and Barrack Services. All appliances will be returned to store when no longer required.
