Land taken for the Purposes of a Road in Blocks III and IV, Awa-o-te-Atua Survey District, Whakatane County.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken, under section nineteen of the Public Works Act, 1908, for a certain public work—to wit, for the purposes of a road in Blocks III and IV, Awa-o-te-Atua Survey District, Whakatane County:

And whereas the Whakatane County Council has laid before the Governor-General a memorial, accompanied by a map, and also the statutory declaration, as required by the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of a road; and I do also declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on and after the eleventh day of January, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen.

In the Auckland Land District; as the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 44765, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured as above mentioned.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, Member of His Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Member of the Royal Victorian Order, Knight of Grace of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this sixth day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and eighteen.

Amending Regulations for the Examination of Extra First-class Engineers, Engine-drivers, Winding-engine Drivers, Locomotive-engine Drivers, and Traction-engine Drivers.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this ninth day of December, 1918.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the twentieth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and nine, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 37, of the sixth day of the following month, regulations were made for the examination of extra first-class engineers and engine-drivers:

And whereas by Order in Council dated the nineteenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 24, of the twenty-seventh day of the same month, regulations were made for the examination of electric winding-engine drivers:

And whereas by Order in Council dated the nineteenth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 59, of the twenty-ninth day of the same month, regulations were made for the examination of locomotive-engine drivers and traction-engine drivers:

And whereas it is desired to amend the hereinbefore-recited regulations so far as they relate to the days on which examinations shall be held in the Inspection of Machinery Office at Auckland:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the Inspection of Machinery Act, 1908, and its amendments, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the following regulation in regard to the days on which examinations shall be held in the Inspection of Machinery Office at Auckland; and doth hereby declare that this regulation shall come into force on the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen.

REGULATION.

EXAMINATIONS will be held in the Inspection of Machinery Office at Auckland on the first working-day (and on the following days if necessary to complete examination) after the 14th day of the months of February, May, August, and November.

Bullion and Jewellery.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this ninth day of December, 1918.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by Orders in Council dated the twenty-sixth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and seven, and the twenty-third day of August, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the thirty-first day of December, one thousand nine hundred and seven, and the twenty-fourth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, respectively, regulations were made under the authority of the Post Office Act, 1900, and the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, prescribing, inter alia, the rates of postage for the conveyance of parcels of bullion and jewellery by means of the Post Office:

And whereas it is desirable to amend such regulations in the manner hereinafter set forth:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon him by the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities in that behalf enabling him, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke the regulation numbered fifteen under the heading of “Bullion and Jewellery” in the Order in Council of the twenty-sixth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and seven, and the regulation numbered ten of the Order in Council of the twenty-third day of August, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, and in lieu thereof doth hereby make the regulation set forth in the Schedule hereto; and doth declare that the regulation hereby made shall form part of and be read together with the regulations hereinbefore mentioned, and shall take effect on the date of the publication of this Order in Council in the New Zealand Gazette.

SCHEDULE.

BULLION AND JEWELLERY.

  1. PARCELS of bullion may be accepted for inland transmission and for transmission to places beyond New Zealand, subject to the provisions of any law prohibiting the exportation of gold from New Zealand. No parcel of bullion may exceed 3 lb. Parcels containing bullion addressed to any place within New Zealand must be insured if the contents are over 10s. in value. Such insurance is, however, limited to a maximum of £2. The Postmaster-General reserves the right to refuse to accept any package of bullion for despatch by any mail, or to despatch any such package by any mail, on the ground that the mail may by such acceptance or such despatch be exposed to the risk of violation. Bullion for the Australian States cannot be sent by parcel-post, but may be forwarded by registered-letter post, if weighing not more than 3 lb. No parcel may contain bullion exceeding £5 in
