Appointments, Promotions, and Transfers of Officers on Active Service with the N.Z. Expeditionary Force.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, and transfers of officers on active service with the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, vide List No. 73, N.Z.E.F. Orders.

AUCKLAND MOUNTED RIFLES.

Captain R. W. Colbeck, having been absent from his unit off duty for four months, is seconded, under provisions of N.Z.E.F. Regulation 34. Dated 27th July, 1918.

2nd Lieutenant L. C. Ryan to be Lieutenant, vice Captain R. W. Colbeck, seconded. Dated 27th July, 1918.

Captain M. R. Reed is granted the temporary rank of Major whilst commanding a squadron, vice Major D. Munro, temporarily performing the duties of Second in Command of the regiment. Dated 14th July, 1918.

Memoranda.

Major H. S. Whitehorn performed the duties of Commandant, Desert Mounted Corps Rest Camp, Port Said, from 14th June, 1918, to 1st August, 1918.

Lieutenant S. C. Reid performed the duties of Signalling Officer, vice Lieutenant H. K. Hatrick, relinquished the appointment, from 14th June, 1918, to 11th July, 1918.

CANTERBURY MOUNTED RIFLES.

The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants to be Lieutenants, under the provisions of N.Z.E.F. Regulation 13. Dated 1st August, 1918:—

Lieutenant P. C. Rose relinquishes the appointment of Quartermaster, 4th (Anzac) Camel Battalion, and ceases to be seconded. Dated 28th May, 1918.

2nd Lieutenant F. G. Treweek performed the duties of Adjutant, 4th (Anzac) Camel Battalion, from 30th March, 1918, to 7th April, 1918, and from 9th May, 1918, to 15th June, 1918, inclusive.

9/713, Sergeant N. H. Hutton to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 28th August, 1918.

N.Z. CYCLIST CORPS.

Lieutenant E. H. Blomfield is granted the temporary rank of Captain, vice Captain A. H. Richards. Dated 22nd August, 1918.

N.Z. FIELD ARTILLERY.

Lieutenant J. W. Crighton, having been declared by a Medical Board to be unfit for general service within twelve months, is seconded, under provisions of N.Z.E.F. Regulation 34. Dated 13th June, 1918.

Captain W. L. Moore, having been absent from his unit off duty for four months, is seconded, under provisions of N.Z.E.F. Regulation 34. Dated 29th July, 1918.

Major F. M. Turner, M.C., R.N.Z.A., is seconded for duty as Chief Instructor, N.Z.F.A. Reserve Depot. Dated 9th August, 1918.

The undermentioned are seconded for duty to New Zealand. Dated 31st August, 1918:—

Lieutenant (Acting Captain) J. W. Smeaton to be Captain, vice Major F. M. Turner, M.C., R.N.Z.A., seconded, and retains the appointment of Adjutant, 3rd Brigade, N.Z.F.A. Dated 9th August, 1918.

2nd Lieutenant S. O. Burleigh to be Lieutenant, under provisions of N.Z.E.F. Regulation 13. Dated 16th August, 1918.

Lieutenant L. S. Davis is granted the temporary rank of Captain whilst commanding a section of the N.Z.D.A.C., vice Captain S. Boscawen, to date from 27th July, 1918, and relinquishes the temporary rank on ceasing to command a section. Dated 10th August, 1918.

N.Z. ENGINEERS.

Field Companies.

Lieutenant C. W. Chilcott, M.C., is seconded for duty to New Zealand. Dated 31st August, 1918.

Lieutenant G. V. Russell, M.C., is granted the temporary rank of Captain, vice Major L. M. Shera, M.C., to England on duty. Dated 30th August, 1918.

Lieutenant G. T. Kellaway, M.C., is granted the temporary rank of Captain, vice Captain J. H. Grover, N.Z.S.C., transferred to Wellington Regiment, and is appointed Officer in Charge, Artillery Signals, N.Z. Division. Dated 30th July, 1918.

2nd Lieutenant F. W. Aickin was tried by General Court-martial on 16th August, 1918, found “Guilty,” and sentenced to take rank and precedence in his corps and in the army as if his appointment as 2nd Lieutenant bore date the 15th day of August, 1918.

AUCKLAND REGIMENT.

2nd Lieutenant A. H. Sage, M.M., ceases to be seconded for duty to New Zealand. Dated 31st August, 1918.

2nd Lieutenant F. E. Bailey is placed on the N.Z. Roll. Dated 24th August, 1918.

2nd Lieutenant P. McA. Hobson is seconded for duty to New Zealand. Dated 24th August, 1918.

Lieutenant W. E. Anderson to be Adjutant, Composite Reserve Battalion, Sling, and is granted the acting rank of Captain whilst so employed. Dated 21st August, 1918.

Lieutenant G. H. Hogg, proceeding overseas, relinquishes the appointment of a Platoon Commander, 3rd (Reserve) Battalion. Dated 31st August, 1918.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) W. R. Lang, M.C., to be a Company Commander, 3rd (Reserve) Battalion, vice Captain C. L. Knight, M.C., proceeded overseas, and retains the temporary rank of Captain whilst so employed. Dated 26th August, 1918.

Captain R. D. McFarland, M.C., relinquishes the appointment of a Company Commander, 3rd (Reserve) Battalion. Dated 17th August, 1918.

Lieutenant W. V. Quane, from Platoon Commander, 3rd (Reserve) Battalion, to be a Company Commander, Composite Reserve Battalion, Sling. Dated 23rd August, 1918.
