in the First Schedule hereto from the 1st day of April, 1919,
to the 15th day of May, 1919 (both days inclusive).

  1. Licenses to take or kill such deer may be issued by the
    Chief Postmaster at Christchurch, upon the recommendation
    of the secretary of the North Canterbury Acclimatization
    Society, on payment of a license fee of £1 1s., in the form
    prescribed in the Second Schedule hereto, and subject to the
    said Act and these regulations. The number of such licenses
    to be issued by the said Chief Postmaster shall not exceed
    twelve. Provided that not more than one such license shall
    be issued to the same person; and also that if the number
    of applications received for licenses exceeds the number of
    available licenses, then the persons to whom such licenses
    are to be issued shall be decided by ballot.

  2. No licensee shall take or kill more than four stags,
    and no stag shall be killed carrying antlers with less than
    eight points. Ball cartridge only to be used; provided that
    no metal-patched or metal-cased bullet shall be used for
    killing such deer.

  3. No hind or fawn shall be taken or killed on any pretext
    whatever; and no licensee shall allow any dog to accompany
    either himself or any attendant he may have with him.

  4. Nothing herein contained shall extend to authorizing
    any person to sell any deer or portion thereof.

  5. Regulations as to deer “tags,” per New Zealand Gazette
    No. 40, Vol. I, of 20th May, 1909, page 1408, shall be strictly
    adhered to by each licensee, who, in addition thereto, shall
    return all unused “tags” to the secretary of the North
    Canterbury Acclimatization Society, Christchurch, immediately he has finished stalking for the season for which
    such “tags” have been issued, together with a statement
    of the number of deer shot.

  6. Any person committing a breach of any of these regulations shall be liable, on conviction, to a fine not exceeding
    £20.

(stags), of not less than points, within that part of

1919 (both days inclusive), subject to the provisions of the
Animals Protection Act, 1908, and all regulations affecting
red deer made thereunder and in force within the said district.

Regulations for Deer-shooting, North Canterbury Acclimatization District (Rakaia Gorge Deer Forest).

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals
Protection Act, 1908 (hereinafter called “the said Act”),
I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the
Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby
make the following regulations prescribing the deer-shooting
season in the North Canterbury Acclimatization District, and
the conditions affecting the same, and also the form of license
and the fee payable therefor.

REGULATIONS.

  1. RED-DEER stags may be taken or killed within that part
    of the North Canterbury Acclimatization District described
    in the First Schedule hereto from the 1st day of April, 1919,
    to the 15th day of May, 1919 (both days inclusive).

  2. Licenses to take or kill such deer may be issued by the
    Chief Postmaster at Christchurch, upon the recommendation
    of the secretary of the North Canterbury Acclimatization
    Society, on payment of a license fee of £5, in the form
    prescribed in the Second Schedule hereto, and subject to the
    said Act and these regulations. The number of such licenses
    to be issued by the said Chief Postmaster shall not exceed
    seventeen. Provided that not more than one such license shall
    be issued to the same person; and also that if the number
    of applications received for licenses exceeds the number of
    available licenses, then the persons to whom such licenses

to the provisions of the Animals Protection Act, 1908, and
all regulations affecting red deer made thereunder and in
force within the said district.

Changing the Purpose of Portion of a Public Utility Reserve in
Motueka Survey District, Nelson Land District.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto
forms portion of a reserve heretofore duly set apart
for the purposes of public utility, being a reserve within
Class II of the Second Schedule of the Public Reserves and
Domains Act, 1908, and such land is not vested in trust in
any society, body corporate, or trustees :

And whereas it is expedient that such land should be
appropriated as a site for a public school, being a reserve
within Class III of the aforesaid Act :

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of
Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New
Zealand, in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred
upon me by the eleventh section of the Public Reserves and
Domains Act, 1908, do by this notification declare that
the said land shall, from and after the twenty-first day of
November, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen, be
appropriated as a site for a public school under Class III
of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908; and I do
hereby direct that this notification shall be published in the
New Zealand Gazette.

ALL that area in the Nelson Land District, containing by
admeasurement 1 acre 2 roods 21 perches, more or less, being
Section 23, Block XII, Motueka Survey District (formerly a part of Section 82, Moutere Hills Original District). Bounded towards the north-west and north by Harley Road,
1756 and 189·1 links respectively; towards the east by
part of the said Section 82, 524·9 links; towards the south
by part of Section 82, 350 links; and towards the west by
