Appointments, Promotions, and Transfers of Officers on Active Service with the N.Z. Expeditionary Force.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, and transfers of the undermentioned officers on active service with the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, vide List No. 71, N.Z.E.F. Orders.

AUCKLAND MOUNTED RIFLES.

Lieutenant D. S. McCathie, M.C., having been absent from his unit off duty for four months, is seconded, under provisions of N.Z.E.F. Regulation 34. Dated 23rd June, 1918.

The undermentioned to be Captains. Dated 3rd February, 1918 :—

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) D. S. Manners, vice Captain H. L. Wade, placed on the N.Z. Roll, and remains seconded for duty as Staff Captain, N.Z.M.R. Brigade.

Lieutenant F. Allsopp, vice Lieutenant D. S. Manners (promoted and remaining seconded), and remains seconded as a Prisoner of War.

Lieutenant C. V. Bigg-Wither, vice Lieutenant F. Allsopp (promoted and remaining seconded), and retains the appointment of Quartermaster.

Lieutenant K. J. Tait, M.C. (since killed in action), vice Lieutenant C. V. Bigg-Wither, promoted and retaining appointment of Quartermaster.

The undermentioned to be Captains. Dated 23rd March, 1918 :—

Lieutenant G. Hovey, vice Captain K. J. Tait, M.C., killed in action, and remains seconded for duty at Administrative Headquarters, N.Z.E.F.

2nd Lieutenant E. L. Compigne ceases to be seconded for duty to New Zealand. Dated 31st May, 1918.

Lieutenant G. J. H. Reid performed the duties of Adjutant from 30th March, 1918, to 29th May, 1918, inclusive.

Major P. M. Acton-Adams, D.S.O., is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel whilst commanding the regiment, vice Lieutenant-Colonel J. Findlay, C.B., D.S.O., temporarily commanding the N.Z.M.R. Brigade. Dated 15th June, 1918.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) M. C. Milne, M.C., relinquishes the temporary rank of Captain on ceasing to command a squadron of the N.Z.M.R. Training Regiment. Dated 1st May, 1918.

Captain R. Irvine is seconded for duty to New Zealand. Dated 25th July, 1918.

Captain F. M. Turner, M.C., R.N.Z.A., to be Major, under provisions of N.Z.E.F. Regulation 36, with seniority next before Major J. G. Jeffery, M.C., to date 10th January, 1918, but with pay and allowances for rank of Major from date of embarkation from New Zealand (namely, 5th May, 1918).
