EAST COAST, INNER BARRIER ROUTE.—HEATH REEF AND TIH TIH REEF.—INTENDED NEW LIGHTS (U).
Mariners and others are hereby notified that the proposed new group flashing white lights on Heath Reef and Tih Tih Reef will be exhibited as hereunder :—
(a.) Heath Reef, on or about 15th October, 1918.
(b.) Tih Tih Reef on or about 15th November, 1918.
Description of new lights—
(a.) Heath Reef:
Position.—Lat. 13° 28½′ S., long. 143° 40½′ E.
Character.—Group flashing white light, showing three flashes in quick succession every fifteen seconds, thus—flash ½ sec., eclipse 1 sec.; flash ½ sec., eclipse 1 sec.; flash ½ sec., eclipse 11½ secs.
(b.) Tih Tih Reef:
Position.—Lat. 13° 9′ S., long, 143° 37′ E.
Character.—Group flashing white light, showing four flashes in quick succession every twenty seconds, thus—flash ½ sec., eclipse 1 sec.; flash ½ sec., eclipse 1 sec.; flash ½ sec., eclipse 1 sec.; flash ½ sec., eclipse 15 secs.
Remarks.—The light will be unwatched.
The fixed white light on the Claremont Island Lightship will be continued until further notice.
Note.—Further notice will be given.
CEYLON.
NORTH COAST.—MANAR ISLAND.—TALAMANAAR.—SOUTH LIGHT DISCONTINUED.
Position.—On end of South Pier. Lat. 9° 4½′ N., long. 79° 42¼′ E.
Description.—An occasional occulting red light.
Remarks.—The light has been discontinued, and is to be expunged from the charts.
KOREA.
EAST COAST.—CHUMONJIN ROAD.—CHUMONJIN KUTCHI.—LIGHT ESTABLISHED.
Position.—On Chumon san. Lat. 37° 54′ 2″ N., long. 128° 49′ 53″ E., on Chart No. 882.
Abridged Description.—Lt. alt. gp. fl. (3), W.W.R., ev. 15 secs., 132 ft., vis. 17 m.
Details:
Character.—An alternating group flashing white and red light, showing three flashes every fifteen seconds, thus—white flash, eclipse 2½ secs.; white flash, eclipse 6¼ secs.; red flash, eclipse 6¼ secs.
Elevation.—132 ft.
Visibility.—17 miles.
Structure.—White cylindrical tower, 30 ft. in height to centre of lantern.
JAPAN.
EAST COAST OF HOKKAIDO.
Notice is hereby given that the character, the candle-power, and the visibility of the light of Benten Jima Light-house, Nemoro Harbour, Province of Nemoro, have been changed as follows since the 10th of July, 1918 :—
Character.—Occulting white light, duration of light 3 seconds and of eclipse 2 seconds.
Power.—280 candles.
Visible Distance.—13 nautical miles in clear night.
NORTH COAST OF HONSHU.
Notice is hereby given that the fog siren at Tairadate Lighthouse on Myojin Zaki, entrance to Mutsu Gulf, has been temporarily discontinued.
SOUTH AFRICA.
AGULHAS BANK.—BANK REPORTED.
Details.—The following soundings were obtained in the positions shown near the edge of the Agulhas Bank :—

Lat. 35° 00′ 30″ S., long. 23° 12′ 30″ E. . . 23 fathoms (black sand).
,, 35° 00′ 00″ S., ,, 23° 15′ 00″ E. . . 31 ,, (black sand).
,, 34° 59′ 30″ S., ,, 23° 16′ 30″ E. . . 37 ,, (mud and sand).
,, 34° 59′ 00″ S., ,, 23° 18′ 30″ E. . . 33 ,, (rock).
Note.—The name “Grue Bank” is to be inserted on the charts against this bank with the note “(Reported 1917).”
AFRICA.
WEST COAST.—SPANISH PROTECTORATE.—FALSE CAPE BOJADOR.—EXISTENCE OF SHOAL WESTWARD OF.
Position (approximate).—At a distance of about 11½ miles westward from False Cape Bojador. Lat. 26° 24′ N., long. 14° 22′ W.
Depth.—3 fathoms.

Remarks.—A note “Repd. (1918) (P.A.)” is to be inserted on the chart against the above shoal.
Note.—This shoal is already shown on some copies of the charts.
MEDITERRANEAN.
MOROCCO, CEUTA BAY.—CEUTA LIGHT.—AMENDED CHARACTERISTICS.
Position.—At Point Almina, lat. 35° 53¾′ N., long. 5°16¾′ W.
New Abridged Description.—Lt. gp. fl. (2), ev. 15 secs., 446 ft., vis. 16 m.
Details.—Further information has been received that the characteristics of the new light are now as follows, and not as given in the former notice :—
Character.—A group flashing white light showing two flashes every fifteen seconds, thus—flash ½ sec., eclipse ½ sec.; flash 2 sec.s, eclipse 12 secs.
Elevation.—446 ft.
Visibility.—16 miles.
Notice to Mariners.—No. 64 of 1918.
COROMANDEL HARBOUR.—ALTERATION IN WHARF LIGHT.

Wellington, N.Z., 8th October, 1918.
THE Coromandel County Council have notified that on and after Monday, 28th October, one red light only will be shown from the outer end of the Town Wharf instead of the present two vertical red and white lights.
Charts, &c., affected.—Admiralty Charts Nos. 2036 and 2543; “New Zealand Pilot,” eighth edition, 1908, Chapter iii, page 89.

Unclaimed Property.
In the matter of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908 (Part III), and its amendments; and in the matter of the estate of Samuel Crago Toms, of Hastings, in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay, in the Dominion of New Zealand, Farmer.
WHEREAS it has been reported to the Public Trustee that the said Samuel Crago Toms, of Hastings aforesaid, but now a member of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force serving in France, has an estate or interest in all that piece or parcel of land being Lot 4, Subdivision B, Heretaunga Block, comprising Lot 75 on the plan deposited in the Land Transfer Office at Napier under No. 2366, but has no agent in New Zealand with authority to take possession of and administer such property :
And whereas the Public Trustee recently applied to the Supreme Court for an order under Part III of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908, and its amendments, in respect of such property; and by an order made in the Supreme Court at Wellington on the 8th day of October, 1918, under section 87 of the said Act, the Public Trustee was authorized to exercise in respect of such property all or any of the powers contained in the said section 87 :
And whereas the said property is situate in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay :
Now, the Public Trustee hereby gives notice that he purposes to exercise in respect of such property the powers conferred on him by the said order and by Part III of the said Act.

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 251 of the Land Act, 1908, notice is hereby given that unless the arrears of rent and penalty thereon due in respect of Pastoral Run No. 65, East Taupo County, Auckland Land District, containing 5,194 acres, and held under license by B. C. Lowry, are paid within three months from the date of this Gazette, the interest of the licensee in the said run will be declared forfeited.
