His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the New Zealand Staff Corps, New Zealand Permanent Staff, and Territorial Force :—

NEW ZEALAND STAFF CORPS.
Lieutenant-Colonel John Gethin Hughes, D.S.O., is struck off the strength of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, and absorbed into the Establishment. Dated 31st December, 1916.
Lieutenant Norman William McDonald Weir is granted the temporary rank of Captain whilst employed as Musketry Instructor in the New Zealand Expeditionary Force Training Camps. Dated 21st December, 1916.

NEW ZEALAND PERMANENT STAFF.
Staff Sergeant-major (W.O.) Gilbert Buchanan Stevenson is granted the honorary rank of Lieutenant temporarily whilst employed as Assistant Musketry Instructor in the New Zealand Expeditionary Force Training Camps. Dated 21st December, 1916.

1ST MOUNTED RIFLES (CANTERBURY YEOMANRY CAVALRY).
Lieutenant William Deans is struck off the strength of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, and is absorbed into the Establishment with the original rank of Captain. Dated 31st January, 1917.

3RD (AUCKLAND) MOUNTED RIFLES.
2nd Lieutenant William Titley Palmer is struck off the strength of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, and absorbed into the Establishment with the rank of Lieutenant. Dated 15th November, 1916.

4TH (WAIKATO) MOUNTED RIFLES.
Captain John James Raynes is struck off the strength of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, and absorbed into the Reserve of Officers. Dated 31st December, 1916.

NEW ZEALAND GARRISON ARTILLERY.
2nd Lieutenant William Mervyn Dawn to be Lieutenant (Auckland Garrison Artillery Division). Dated 23rd December, 1916.
William Alan Fleming to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.) No. 4 Company. Dated 23rd December, 1916.

CORPS OF NEW ZEALAND ENGINEERS.
New Zealand Post and Telegraph Corps.
Lieutenant Harry Hobson McIntosh is transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated 20th December, 1916.

1ST (CANTERBURY) REGIMENT.
Coast Defence Detachment.
Lieutenant Herbert Schack Mackworth Hartle is transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated 20th December, 1916.

2ND (SOUTH CANTERBURY) REGIMENT.
2nd Lieutenant James A. Douglas Ritchie, from the Unattached List (b), to be 2nd Lieutenant (supernumerary to Establishment). Dated 18th December, 1916.

13TH (NORTH CANTERBURY AND WESTLAND) REGIMENT.
2nd Lieutenant Frank Cargill Wade, from the Unattached List (b), to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 15th December, 1916.

17TH (RUAHINE) REGIMENT.
Captain Gavin William Wardrop is struck off the strength of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, and absorbed into the Establishment. Dated 20th January, 1917.
Captain Arthur Sidney Todd Butler is struck off the strength of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, and absorbed into the Establishment with the original rank of Lieutenant. Dated 31st January, 1917.

NEW ZEALAND FORCES MOTOR SERVICE CORPS.
The undermentioned Lieutenants (temp. Captains) to be Captains. Dated 16th June, 1916 :—

NEW ZEALAND CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.
The Reverend John Hobbs, Chaplain to the Forces (3rd Class), to be Chaplain (2nd Class). Dated 22nd December, 1916.

The Reverend John Hobbs, Chaplain to the Forces (2nd Class), is posted to the Retired List, under the provisions of paragraph 126, General Regulations, 1913, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 22nd December, 1916.

NEW ZEALAND ARMY NURSING SERVICE.
Sister Gertrude C. McAra is struck off the strength of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force and the New Zealand Army Nursing Service. Dated 12th December, 1916.
