HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, and transfers of officers on active service with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, vide List No. 35, New Zealand Expeditionary Force Orders.
COMMANDS AND STAFF.
Colonel (temp. Brigadier-General) E. W. C. Chaytor, C.B., C.M.G., T.D., p.s.c., N.Z.S.C., commanded Anzac Mounted Division from 17th October, 1916, to 13th December, 1916, and resumed command of the N.Z.M.R. Brigade on 19th December, 1916.
Lieutenant-Colonel C. E. R. Mackesy, D.S.O., Auckland M.R., temporarily commanded the N.Z.M.R. Brigade, vice Colonel (temp. Brigadier-General) E. W. C. Chaytor, C.B., C.M.G., T.D., p.s.c., N.Z.S.C., sick, and subsequently commanding Anzac Mounted Division, from 13th August, 1916, to 19th December, 1916.

AUCKLAND MOUNTED RIFLES.
Lieutenant-Colonel (temp. Colonel) C. E. R. Mackesy, D.S.O., relinquishes the temporary rank of Colonel and resumes command of the regiment on resumption of command of N.Z.M.R. Brigade by Colonel (temp. Brigadier-General) E. W. C. Chaytor, C.B., C.M.G., T.D., p.s.c., N.Z.S.C.; to date 19th December, 1916.
Major (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) J. N. McCarroll relinquishes the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, and resumes the appointment of Second in Command on resumption of Command by Lieutenant-Colonel C. E. R. Mackesy, D.S.O.; to date 19th December, 1916.
Major H. S. Whitehorn relinquishes the temporary appointment of Second in Command on resumption of the appointment by Major J. N. McCarroll; to date 19th December, 1916.
The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 11, of 25th January, 1917, relative to Lieutenant H. D. Williams, Auckland Mounted Rifles, being transferred to the Royal Flying Corps and struck off the strength of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, dated 15th July, 1916, is cancelled (vide N.Z.E.F. Order No. 35).
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) A. C. M. Finlayson relinquishes the temporary rank of Captain on ceasing to act as Second in Command of a Squadron; to date 19th December, 1916.
CANTERBURY MOUNTED RIFLES.
2nd Lieutenant W. L. Harrison to be Lieutenant, under provisions of N.Z.E.F. Regulation 13; to date 24th December, 1916.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) D. T. Wood relinquishes the temporary rank of Captain (wounded); to date 23rd December, 1916.
WELLINGTON MOUNTED RIFLES.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) N. C. Grant relinquishes the temporary rank of Captain (sick); to date 5th January 1917.
