Declaring certain Industries to be Industries essential for the Public Welfare.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this seventeenth day of April, 1917.
Present:
THE HONOURABLE W. H. HERRIES PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by clause one of regulations made on the sixteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, under the War Regulations Act, 1914, and the amendments thereof, and relating to seditious strikes and lock-outs, it is provided that the Governor, if satisfied that any industry is essential for the public welfare, may by Order in Council declare that industry to be an industry essential for the public welfare: And whereas the Governor is satisfied that the industries mentioned in the Schedule hereto are essential for the public welfare:
Now, therefore, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in pursuance and exercise of the power conferred upon him as aforesaid, doth hereby declare that the industries mentioned in the Schedule hereto are industries essential for the public welfare.
SCHEDULE.
The shipping industry.
The carriage of goods, merchandise, or passengers by land or sea.
The lading and unlading of ships.
The frozen-meat industry.
