Amendments to the Regulations under the Public Service Act, 1912.

IN pursuance and exercise of the authority conferred on him by the Public Service Act, 1912 (hereinafter called “the said Act”), the Commissioner, with the approval of the Governor in Council, doth hereby, in respect of the regulations made under the said Act on the thirty-first day of March, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen, and the amendments thereof, amend the regulations now in force in the manner and to the extent also set forth in the Schedule hereto. Such amendment shall have effect from and after the date of publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.

SCHEDULE.

REGULATION No. 141 is hereby revoked, and the following new regulation substituted therefor:—

The register shall be cancelled on the 31st day of January and 31st day of July in each year, and a new register opened on the 1st day of February and the 1st day of August in each year. An applicant desiring his name to be carried forward to the new register must notify the Commissioner to that effect at some period during the month immediately preceding the opening of the new register, and for the purpose of this regulation applications received during the month immediately preceding the opening of a new register will be regarded as “renewed” for the succeeding half-year. If such notice is given the names carried forward will be entered in the new register in the same order in which they appeared in the old register.

In pursuance of the provisions of the Public Service Act, 1912, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, approves the foregoing regulations.

Regulations governing the Disposal of Officers invalided from the New Zealand Expeditionary Force.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authority conferred on me by the Defence Act, 1909, its amendments, and the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces Act, 1915, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby make the following regulations governing the disposal of officers of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force who are invalided to New Zealand.

SCHEDULE.

AFTER paragraph 35, Part IV, Regulations regarding Striking off Strength and Restoration to Establishment of Officers so struck off, add:—

Officers invalided to New Zealand.

35A. The names of officers invalided to New Zealand are placed on the “New Zealand Roll.”

35B. On arrival in New Zealand invalided officers will be examined by a Medical Board, and Headquarters will decide whether they are—

(a.) To return to the front with reinforcements;

(b.) To be employed in some other military capacity; or

(c.) To be struck off the New Zealand Expeditionary Force.

35C. Officers other than those of N.Z.S.C. and R.N.Z.A. declared by the Medical Board to be fit for active service will be detailed by Headquarters for service under either categories (a) or (b) of paragraph 35B.

35D. Officers other than those of the N.Z.S.C. and R.N.Z.A. employed under category (b) of paragraph 35B, and those declared by the Medical Board to be fit for home service only, will be transferred from the “New
