NEW PLYMOUTH BOROUGH COUNCIL.
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.
IN
-N pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in
that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, the
Corporation of the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the
Borough of New Plymouth, New Zealand, hereby resolves
as follows:-
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other
charges on a loan of £3,000, authorized to be raised by the
Corporation of the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the
Borough of New Plymouth, New Zealand, under the above-
mentioned Act, for the following purposes: -
(a.) To complete the formation and improvement generally
of streets and footways, the purchase of necessary
machinery and plant, and the construction of new
bridges and approaches thereto:
(b.) The sum to be borrowed for such purpose is £3,000,
at a rate of interest not exceeding 54 per cent. per
annum, with a sinking fund of per cent. per annum
additional:
(c.) The proposed security for the said loan of £3,000 and
the interest and sinking fund thereon is an annually
recurring special rate of id. in the pound on the
annual value of all rateable property in the borough,
and it is proposed to repay the money on the 1st day
of October, 1922:
(d.) It is proposed to pay out of the loan the cost of raising
the loan and the interest and sinking fund thereon
for the first year-
the said Corporation of the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses
of the Borough of New Plymouth, New Zealand, hereby
makes and levies a special rate of id. in the pound upon the
rateable value of all rateable property in the Borough of
New Plymouth; and that such special rate shall be an
annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan,
and be payable half-yearly on the 1st days of January and
July in each and every year during the currency of such loan,
being a period of six years, or until the loan is fully paid off;
and the said special rate is to be levied in addition to the
special rate made and levied in respect of the original loan of
£30,200 authorized to be raised for the construction of the
said public work.
The above resolution was duly passed at a meeting of the
New Plymouth Borough Council held on the 27th day of
November, 1916.

HASTINGS BOROUGH COUNCIL.
10-PER-CENT. ADDITIONAL BUILDING LOAN, 1916.
WHEREAS on the 18th February, 1914, a proposal
was submitted to and carried by the ratepayers of
the Borough of Hastings as follows :-
A proposal to borrow by way of special loan within the
meaning of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, and the
Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, and its amendments, the
sum of £29,300, to be expended in the erection of the fol-
lowing buildings, &c. :--
Municipal theatre fronting Hastings Street,
offices fronting Hastings and Heretaunga
Streets, shops, hall, &c., fronting Heretaunga
Street
Cost of raising the loan and the interest for the
first year

It is proposed to pay out of the loan the cost of raising the
loan and the interest for the first year.
The Council proposes to pledge a special rate of 17/32d.
in the pound on the rateable value, on the basis of the unim-
proved value, of all rateable property in the borough as
security for the said loan and the interest thereon, and for
the provision of a sinking fund of 1 per cent. The rate
of interest will not exceed 5 per cent. per annum.
It is proposed that the whole amount of the loan shall be
repayable at the expiration of a term not exceeding thirty-
six and a half years computed from the date of raising the
loan.
And whereas the said loan of £29,300 has been raised and
found insufficient to complete the undertaking in respect to
which it was raised
Now, therefore, the Hastings Borough Council resolves,
under the authority of section 18 of the Local Bodies' Loans
Act, 1913, and all other powers (if any) enabling it in that
behalf, for the purpose of completing the said undertaking,
to borrow, from such person or persons as may be willing
to lend the same, a further sum of £2,930, being one-tenth
of the amount originally authorized by the ratepayers; and
that in connection with such further sum of £2,930 to be
borrowed a sinking fund of 1 per cent. be and the same is
hereby established.
- That, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested
in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913,
the Hastings Borough Council hereby resolves as follows :-
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and sinking
fund and other charges on a loan of £2,930, being 10 per
cent. additional on the above-recited loan of £29,300, autho-
rized to be raised by the Hastings Borough Council, the
said Hastings Borough Council hereby makes and levies a
special rate of one twenty-ninth of a penny in the pound
on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value)
of all rateable property in the Borough of Hastings, com-
prising the whole of the said borough; and that such special
rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency
of such loan, and be payable on the first day of April in each
and every year during the currency of such loan, being a
period of thirty-six and a half years, or until the loan is
fully paid off.
The common seal of the Hastings Borough Council was
hereto affixed at the office of and pursuant to a resolution
of the Hastings Borough Council in the presence of-

COOK COUNTY COUNCIL.
SPECIAL RESOLUTION MADE ON 15TH DAY OF DECEMBER, 1916.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that
behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, the Cook
County Council hereby resolves as follows :-
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other
charges on a loan of £450, authorized to be raised by the
Cook County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for
metalling part of Ngatapa-Wharekopae Road, the said Cook
County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of
one-eighth of a penny in the £1 upon the rateable value of
all rateable property of the Ngatapa-Wharekopae No. 2
Special-rating District, comprising Lot 2, Okahuatiu No. 1;
Sections 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, Block X, Waikohu Survey District;
Sections 1, 2, Block XIV, Waikohu Survey District; Sec-
tion 7, Block XV, Waikohu Survey District; Section 5,
Block XI, Waikohu Survey District; Section 121, Blocks II,
III, Patutahi Survey District; Sections 1B, 2B, Okahuatiu;
Lot 1, part 1, Okahuatiu A; Lots 1A, 8, 9, of Section 132,
Block III, Patutahi Survey District; Lot 12 of Section 86,
131, 132, Block III, Patutahi Survey District; Lots 1 to 7
of Lot 1 of Sections 86, 131, 132, Block III, Patutahi Sur-
vey District; Sections 10, 11, of 132, Block III, Patutahi
Survey District; Lot 14, of 2, 3, of Sections 86, 132, 131,
Block III, Patutahi Survey District. And that such special
rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency
of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of July
in each and every year during a period equal to the cur-
rency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six and a half
years, or until the loan is fully paid off. The rate of interest
to be four pounds ten shillings per cent.
The common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and In-
habitants of the County of Cook was hereto affixed in the
presence of-

DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.
THE Partnership heretofore existing between the under-
signed, Charlton & Willis," is hereby dissolved as from the eleventh day
of December, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen. All
moneys owing to the firm must be paid to W. H. CHARLTON
Taupiri Street, Te Kuiti, within one month from the date
of this notice, and all accounts owing by the firm should be
rendered to the said W. H. CHARLTON forthwith.
