Amending the License authorizing the Kaponga Town Board to use Water from the Kaupokonui Stream for the Purpose of generating Electricity, and to erect Electric Lines in the Kaponga Town District.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this twenty-sixth day of February, 1917.

WHEREAS it is provided by section two of the Public Works Amendment Act, 1911, that the Governor may, by Order in Council gazetted, make regulations prescribing the conditions on which any license may be issued under the said section:
And whereas by an Order in Council dated the sixth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, and published in the Gazette of the eleventh day of February, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, the Kaponga Town Board was licensed to use water from the Kaupokonui Stream for the purpose of generating electricity, and to erect electric lines in the Kaponga Town District, subject to certain terms and conditions (hereinafter called the “said terms and conditions”):
And whereas application that paragraphs (a) and (b) of clause forty-two of the said terms and conditions be revoked has been made by the Kaponga Town Board, and it is expedient to revoke such paragraphs accordingly:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by section two of the Public Works Amendment Act, 1911, and of every other power in anywise enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke paragraphs (a) and (b) of clause forty-two of the said terms and conditions.

Amendments in the Regulations for Technical Instruction.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this twenty-sixth day of February, 1917.
Present:
THE HONOURABLE SIR JAMES ALLEN, K.C.B., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the Education Act, 1914, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the amendments set out in the Schedule hereto in the regulations in force relating to Technical Instruction; and doth prescribe that this Order shall come into force on the date of the first publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
CLAUSE 40 thereof is hereby amended by adding, after the words “(10.) Physical Training,” the words “(11.) Swimming and Life-saving.”
Clause 41 thereof is hereby cancelled, and the following clause substituted therefor:—
“41. Payment will not be made in respect of a recognized continuation class for any of these subjects for more than two hours a week or eighty hours a year; provided that in the case of subject (10) and subject (11) payment will not be made for more than one hour a week or forty hours a year, nor in the case of subject (10) unless students taking the subject also attend at least one other recognized continuation or technical class during the same year.”

Amending the Regulations under the State Forests Act, 1908.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this twenty-first day of February, 1917.

THE HONOURABLE W. H. HERRIES PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him by the State Forests Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke Schedule A of the regulations made under the said Act on the thirty-first day of March, one thousand nine hundred and nine, and published in the Gazette of the fifteenth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and nine, and in lieu thereof doth hereby substitute the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE A.
RATES OF ROYALTY.
ORDINARY royalty shall be paid by the purchasers of timber at such rates as may be fixed, being not less in any case than the following rates:—

Other sleepers, posts, and rails, not less than 10s. per 100 in number ..
Fencing-stakes not less than 5s. per 100 in number ..
Shingles not less than 1s. per 100 in number ..
Firewood .. .. .. 2s. per cord.
No standing totara or black-pine, and no timber required for or suitable for milling purposes, to be permitted to be cut for posts, rails, fencing-stakes, shingles, firewood, &c.
The royalty to be paid under this Schedule is subject to the right of the Commissioner to cause any timber to be sold by appraisement or by auction in the manner set forth in the foregoing regulations.
