SCHEDULE.
RATES OF ROYALTY.
ORDINARY royalty shall be paid by the purchasers of timber at such rates as may be fixed, being not less in any case than the following rates:—

No standing totara or black-pine, and no timber required for or suitable for milling purposes, to be permitted to be cut for posts, rails, fencing-stakes, shingles, firewood, &c.

The royalty to be paid under this Schedule is subject to the right of the Minister to cause any timber to be sold by appraisement or by auction in the manner set forth in the foregoing regulations.

Trustees for the Karamea Public Cemetery appointed.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the fourth section of the Cemeteries Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

GEORGE LINEHAM and
ALEXANDER MCNABB

to be trustees for the maintenance and care of the Karamea Public Cemetery, in the places of Middleton Ray, who has left the district, and Samuel Morrow Scott, deceased, to act in conjunction with William Ryan Simpson, Robert Blackburn, jun., and John Johnson, previously appointed.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this seventeenth day of February, one thousand hundred and seventeen.

Trustees for the Waimari Public Cemetery appointed.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by section four of the Cemeteries Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby revoke a certain Warrant dated the seventh day of November, one thousand nine hundred and eight, appointing trustees for the public cemetery at Papanui; and in lieu thereof do hereby appoint

ALBERT BUCKLEY,
FRANK SISSON,
GEORGE DERRETT, and
CHARLES HENRY WALTERS

to be trustees to have the maintenance and care of the said cemetery as described in the Schedule hereto, such cemetery to be known as the Waimari Public Cemetery.


SCHEDULE.
WAIMARI PUBLIC CEMETERY.
(Formerly known as Papanui Public Cemetery.)

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 7 acres 2 roods 16 perches, more or less, situate in Block X, Christchurch Survey District, being part of rural section numbered 671, fronting on Graham’s Road for a distance of 800 links, and running back 1000 links in a rectangular block, the south-east corner being 633·6 links north-east of the south-east corner of rural section numbered 671; save and excepting thereout a strip of land 50 links wide with 800 links frontage to Graham’s Road, which has been dedicated as a public road, and is included within the above-described boundaries. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 2/323, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon coloured with a pink margin.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this sixteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen.

Opening Settlement Land in Canterbury Land District for Selection by Discharged Soldiers.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, and amendments, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement lands described in the Schedule hereto which have been set apart for selection by discharged soldiers shall be open for selection by discharged soldiers on renewable lease on Monday, the twelfth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.


SCHEDULE.
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—MACKENZIE COUNTY.—CLAYTON SETTLEMENT.

Second-class Land.

SECTION 1, Blocks XI, XII, and XVI, Opuha Survey District: Area, 800 acres; capital value, £2,450; half-yearly rent on renewable lease, £55 2s. 6d.

All flat, generally stony and covered with tussock. Numerous small swamps, carrying good cattle-feed. Well watered by Opuha River, streams, and springs. Altitude, 1,400 ft. to 1,700 ft. Nine miles from Fairlie by metalled road.

Section 2, Blocks VIII, XI, and XII, Opuha Survey District: Area, 1,075 acres; capital value, £2,150; half-yearly rent on renewable lease, £48 7s. 6d.

About 180 acres generally stony flats, 400 acres undulating tussock hills, remainder steep hills. The soil varies from poor to good, and excepting on the river-flats is on rock foundation. Well watered by Opuha River and streams. Altitude, 1,700 ft. to 2,800 ft. Ten miles and a half from Fairlie by metalled road.

Third-class Land.

Section 3, Block XII, Opuha Survey District, and Block IX, Four Peaks Survey District: Area, 3,580 acres; capital value, £4,500; half-yearly rent on renewable lease, £101 5s.

About 240 acres stony flats with shallow soil, 500 acres tussock downs with fair soil on rock, remainder steep broken tussock hills, ranging from fair to poor. Well watered by Opuha River and streams. Altitude, 1,700 ft. to 3,500 ft. Ten miles from Fairlie, nine miles and a half of which is by metalled road.

Section 4, Block XII, Opuha Survey District, and Blocks IX and XIII, Four Peaks Survey District: Area, 3,244 acres; capital value, £4,840; half-yearly rent on renewable lease, £108 18s.

About 150 acres stony flats with shallow soil, 400 acres tussock downs with fair soil on rock, remainder steep broken hills, mostly covered with tussock, ranging from fair to poor. Well watered by Opuha River and streams. Altitude, 1,500 ft. to 3,150 ft. Ten miles from Fairlie, nine miles and a half of which is by metalled road.

Section 5, Blocks XII and XVI, Opuha Survey District, and Block XIII, Four Peaks Survey District: Area, 2,904 acres; capital value, £4,500; half-yearly rent on renewable lease, £101 5s.

About 100 acres tussock slopes, fair to poor soil on rock; remainder very steep broken hills, generally covered with tussock. Well watered by Opuha River and streams. Altitude, 1,400 ft. to 3,100 ft. Ten miles and a half from Fairlie, nine miles and a half of which is by metalled road.
