Altering Boundaries of Wairoa and Cook Counties.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS it is provided by subsection two of section three of the Counties Amendment Act, 1913, that the boundaries of any one or more counties may be altered in accordance with a resolution proposing the alteration passed by the Council of each of such counties in which the principal Act is in force:
And whereas a resolution was passed by the Wairoa County Council on the fourteenth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, and sealed with the seal of the Council of the said county on the twenty-second day of November, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen: And whereas a similar resolution was passed by the Cook County Council on the twenty-fifth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, and sealed with the seal of the said county on the fourth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, praying for the inclusion in the Wairoa County of that part of the Cook County described in the said resolutions and in the First Schedule hereto: And whereas it is expedient to make such alteration in accordance with the said resolutions:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred on me by the said Act, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the area described in the First Schedule hereto, being now part of the Cook County, shall, as on and from the second day of April, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, be deemed to be added to and form part of the Wairoa County; and, with the like power and authority, do proclaim and declare that the boundaries of the Counties of Wairoa and Cook respectively shall as from the aforesaid date be those set forth under their respective headings in the Second Schedule hereto.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
AREA ADDED TO WAIROA COUNTY.
ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District bounded by a line commencing at the intersection of the boundary-line between Cook and Wairoa Counties by the northern boundary of Mangapoike No. 2D Block; thence along the present boundary between the said counties to the Hangaroa River, along the left bank of that river to the north-eastern corner of Mangapoike 2A No. 2; along the eastern boundary of that block to Lot 4 of Mangapoike 2A No. 3, along the northern boundary of that lot and the northern and eastern boundaries of Lot 5 of the said Mangapoike 2A No. 3 to Mangapoike No. 2D Block; and thence along the northern boundary of that block to the place of commencement.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
BOUNDARIES OF WAIROA COUNTY.
ALL that area bounded towards the north generally by a right line from the intersection of the main road from Napier to Taupo by the Rangitaiki River to the northernmost point of Lake Waikaremoana; thence by a right line running in the direction of Puketapu Trig. Station to the Ruakituri River, across that river, and by its left bank to a right line running from Puketapu Trig. Station to the summit of Mangapowhatu Mountain; thence by that right line to the western boundary of Tahoma 2 of 2r, Section 2; thence by Waikohu County as described in the New Zealand Gazette of the 21st December, 1916, page 3881, to Cook County hereinbefore described, and by that county to the sea at Paritu; thence towards the east and south-east by the sea to Hawke’s Bay County; and towards the south-west by Hawke’s Bay County as described in the New Zealand Gazette of the 1st September, 1904, page 2113, to the place of commencement, including Portland Island, and excluding the Borough of Wairoa.
BOUNDARIES OF COOK COUNTY.
All that area bounded towards the north generally by the Anaura Block from the sea to the Hikuwai River; thence by that river to the south-eastern corner of Tauwhareparae No. 1 Block; thence by the last-mentioned block and Tauwhareparae No. 3 Block to the south-western corner of the latter block; thence by the western boundary of the said Tauwhareparae No. 3 Block for a distance of 12800 links; thence by a line running due west, 12000 links, to Trig. Station No. 171, Puakato; thence by lines bearing 262° distance 12400 links, bearing 173° 15′ distance 8700 links, bearing 210° 30′ distance 5200 links, to Rimututahi Trig. Station; thence by lines bearing 314° distance 1400 links, bearing 323° distance 1100 links, bearing 294° 30′ distance 2800 links, bearing 349° 41′ distance 5669 links, bearing 345° 21′ distance 1098 links, bearing 344° 29′ distance 10800 links, bearing 74° 30′ distance 4500 links, bearing 9° 30′ distance 6600 links, bearing 273° distance 7500 links, bearing 315° distance 1600 links, bearing 298° 30′ distance 11800 links, bearing 267° distance 2550 links, bearing 258° distance 4500 links, and bearing 20° 29′ dis-
