4. These regulations shall be deemed part of and read together with the War Regulations of the 10th day of November, 1914.

Amending Regulations as to Registers of Reservists under the Military Service Act, 1916, and as to the Selection by Lot of Reservists under that Act.


LIVERPOOL, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this ninth day of January, 1917.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the twenty-sixth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, and published in the Gazette of the second day of November, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, regulations were made under the Military Service Act, 1916, as to the manner in which the Government Statistician should prepare the register of the First and Second Divisions of the Expeditionary Force Reserve and the several district registers thereof: And whereas by Order in Council dated the first day of November, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, and published in the Gazette of the second day of November, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, regulations were made as to the selection by lot of Reservists to be called up for service with the Expeditionary Force: And whereas it is expedient to amend the said regulations in the manner hereinafter set forth:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of that Dominion, do hereby, in pursuance of the authority conferred upon me by the Military Service Act, 1916, and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in that behalf, amend the regulations hereinbefore referred to in the manner set forth in the Schedule hereto.


SCHEDULE.

  1. The regulations of the 26th day of September hereinbefore referred to are hereby amended as follows:—
    (a.) Clause 6 of the said regulations is hereby revoked, and the following clause substituted therefor:—
    “6. Each drawer shall contain an equal number of cards (to be determined from time to time by the Government Statistician), including such number of blank cards as the Government Statistician thinks necessary.”
    (b.) Clause 9 of the said regulations is hereby amended by omitting the words “the number of 500 cards,” and substituting the words “the appropriate number for the time being, of cards.”
    (c.) Clause 10 of the said regulations is hereby amended by omitting the words “500 cards, including blanks,” and substituting the words “the same number of cards, including blanks, as is for the time being the appropriate number for each of the drawers containing the main register.”

  2. Clause 7 of the regulations of the 1st day of November hereinbefore referred to is hereby revoked, and the following clause substituted therefor:—
    “7. The card-drum shall contain a number of marbles equal to the number of cards for the time being in each of the drawers in which the register is kept. The marbles in the card-drum shall be numbered consecutively, commencing with the number one.”
