Appointments, Promotions, and Transfers of Officers on Active Service with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, and transfers of the undermentioned officers on active service with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force (vide List No. 49, N.Z.E.F. Orders).

COMMANDS AND STAFF.

The notices published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 168, of the 15th November, 1917, relating to Lieut.-Colonel R. Young are cancelled, and the following substituted :

Lieut.-Colonel R. Young, C.M.G., D.S.O., Canterbury Regiment, to command 3rd N.Z. (Rifles) Brigade, and is granted the temporary rank of Brigadier-General whilst so employed. Dated 7th August, 1917.

Major L. G. D. Acland, M.C., N.Z.A.S.C., to be D.A.A.G., N.Z.E.F. Administrative Headquarters. Dated 31st August, 1917.

Captain A. E. T. Rhodes, M.R., to be D.A.A.G., N.Z.E.F. in Egypt. Dated 31st August, 1917.

Major R. O. Chesney, p.s.c., g., N.Z.S.C., relinquishes the appointment of D.A.A.G., N.Z. Division. Dated 24th August, 1917.

Major W. L. Robinson, N.Z.S.C., from second in command, 3rd Battalion, Canterbury Regiment, to be D.A.A.G., N.Z. Division. Dated 24th August, 1917.

Lieut.-Colonel M. M. Gard'ner, D.S.O., p.s.c., g., R.N.Z.A., proceeding to New Zealand on duty, relinquishes the appointment of D.A.Q.M.G., 2nd Anzac Corps. Dated 18th August, 1917.

With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 168, of the 15th November, 1917, relating to Colonel V. S. Smyth, N.Z. Staff Corps, for the words “11th August, 1917,” read “11th July, 1917.”

AUCKLAND MOUNTED RIFLES.

Major H. S. Whitehorn to temporarily command N.Z. Training Units and Depots in Egypt, vice Major (temp. Lieut.-Colonel) C. R. Spragg, Wellington M.R., temporarily commanding Desert Column Rest Camp, Port Said. Dated 22nd July, 1917.

CANTERBURY MOUNTED RIFLES.

Captain G. N. Taylor is transferred to N.Z. Pioneer Battalion. Dated 10th August, 1917.

NEW ZEALAND ENGINEERS.

Field Companies.

Major P. St. J. Keenan, from commanding N.Z.E. Reserve Depot to command a field company. Dated 21st August, 1917.

Major G. Barclay, V.D., from commanding a field company to command N.Z.E. Reserve Depot. Dated 21st August, 1917.

Signal Services.

Lieutenant E. Marsden is granted the temporary rank of Captain whilst employed as O.C. a sound-ranging section, R.E., and remains seconded. Dated 28th April, 1917.

AUCKLAND REGIMENT.

2nd Lieutenant F. E. Bailey is transferred to N.Z. Machine-gun Corps. Dated 15th August, 1917.

2nd Lieutenant L. J. Shaw is seconded for duty to New Zealand. Dated 15th August, 1917.

Lieutenant E. B. Fraser ceased to be seconded for duty with a light trench-mortar battery. Dated 23rd August, 1917.

Lieutenant E. J. F. Fraser is seconded for duty with a light trench-mortar battery. Dated 23rd August, 1917.

The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants are seconded for duty to New Zealand. Dated 27th August, 1917 :

2nd Lieutenant H. Digby-Smith, having been declared by a Medical Board to be fit for general service, is removed from the N.Z. Roll. Dated 28th July, 1917.

2nd Lieutenant O. C. Smith is transferred to N.Z. Machine-gun Corps. Dated 15th August, 1917.

The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants are seconded for duty to New Zealand. Dated 27th August, 1917 :
