HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers on active service with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force (vide List No. 44, N.Z.E.F. Orders).

COMMANDS AND STAFF.

Colonel (temp. Brigadier-General) E. W. C. Chaytor, C.B., C.M.G., T.D., A.D.C., p.s.c., N.Z.S.C., from commanding New Zealand Mounted Rifles Brigade, vice Major-General H. G. Chauvel, K.C.M.G., C.B., and is granted the temporary rank of Major-General whilst employed as a Divisional Commander. Dated 22nd April, 1917.

Colonel (temp. Major-General) E. W. C. Chaytor, C.B., C.M.G., T.D., A.D.C., p.s.c., N.Z.S.C., to be Major-General in N.Z. Expeditionary Force. Dated 22nd April, 1917.

Lieut.-Colonel W. Meldrum, C.M.G., D.S.O., to command N.Z. Mounted Rifles Brigade, and is granted the temporary rank of Brigadier-General whilst so employed. Dated 23rd April, 1917.

Lieut.-Colonel C. W. Melville, D.S.O., p.s.c., N.Z.S.C., to command 1st N.Z. Infantry Brigade, and is granted the temporary rank of Brigadier-General whilst so employed. Dated 8th June, 1917.

2nd Lieutenant A. E. T. Rhodes, Canterbury Mounted Rifles, to be A.D.C. to G.O.C., N.Z.M.R. Brigade. Dated 1st February, 1916.

Lieutenant A. E. T. Rhodes, Canterbury Mounted Rifles, from A.D.C. to G.O.C., N.Z.M.R. Brigade, to be A.D.C. to G.O.C., A. and N.Z. Mounted Division. Dated 22nd April, 1917.

Lieutenant C. B. Easther, Wellington Mounted Rifles, to be temporary A.D.C. to G.O.C., N.Z.M.R. Brigade. Dated 23rd April, 1917.

Major E. Northen, 19th Hussars, acted as Brigade Major, N.Z.M.R. Brigade, from 19th January, 1917, to 23rd April, 1917.

AUCKLAND MOUNTED RIFLES.

Lieut.-Colonel C. E. R. Makesy, D.S.O., temporarily commanded N.Z.M.R. Brigade from 21st April, 1917, to 23rd April, 1917.

Lieut.-Colonel C. E. R. Makesy, D.S.O., is seconded for duty with Eastern Force, E.E.F. Dated 23rd April, 1917.

Major J. N. McCarroll to be Lieut.-Colonel, and to command the regiment. Dated 23rd April, 1917.

Major C. R. E. Makesy to be Second in Command. Dated 23rd April, 1917.

Lieutenant W. Haeata to be Adjutant. Dated 22nd March, 1917.
