Paparua Prison proclaimed.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled the Prisons Act, 1908, it is provided that the Governor-General may, by Proclamation published in the Gazette, declare any house, building, enclosure, or place to be a prison, and from and after the gazetting of any such Proclamation, or from any later time specified in the Proclamation, such house, building, enclosure, or place shall be deemed a prison:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance of the above-recited power and authority, do hereby declare that the buildings erected upon the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto, and all enclosures used or occupied therewith, shall, from and after the publication of this Proclamation in the Gazette, be a prison, known as the Paparua Prison, within the meaning and for the purposes of the Prisons Act, 1908.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 1,007 acres 3 roods 21 perches, more or less, being Reserve 2531, parts Reserves 702 and 2351, Section 5 and part Section 6, formerly of Drayton Settlement, and Section 36831, situated in Blocks XII, Rolleston, and IX, Christchurch Survey Districts, commencing at the north-east corner of Reserve 325, and bounded as follows: Towards the north generally by Bealey’s Road, 2968·4 links and 764·6 links, by Reserve 2530, 1000 links, 993·6 links, and 1000·1 links, again by Bealey’s Road, 100·5 links and 190·5 links, and by Sections 2919, 2603, 2552, 2342, and 2343, to Haskett’s Road; thence towards the south-east by that road, 5163·7 links and 425 links; towards the south generally by a public road, 4060·4 links and 1602 links; thence again towards the east generally across that road and by Reserve 3962, 1370·9 links, by a public road, 365·7 links, and by Barter’s Road, 1132·4 links; thence towards the south-west by Section 8, Drayton Settlement, to and across a public road; thence towards the south-east by that road, 3873·1 links, to Church Road; thence towards the west generally by Church Road, 560·7 links, by a quarry-site, 500 links, 400 links, and 500 links, and again by Church Road, 5925·4 links, by Section 2, Drayton Settlement, 1294 links and 1690 links, and by Reserve 325, 696·7 links and 1000 links, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages, more or less. As the same are delineated on the plan marked P.D. 1915/9, deposited in the Head Office, Prisons Department, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Declaring Portion of the Raetihi-Ohakune Road, in the Waimarino County, to be a County Road.

ORDER IN COUNCIL. F.H 39/17.

At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-third day of October, 1917.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the portion of road described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, become a county road.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that portion of road in the Wellington Land District, Waimarino County, known as the Raetihi-Ohakune Road, commencing at a point 30 chains west of the boundary between Sections 5 and 6, Block VIII, Makotuku Survey District; thence proceeding generally in a westerly direction through Blocks Part VIII and VII, and terminating at the western end of the bridge over the Makotuku River Crossing, including the said bridge, and being a distance of 4 miles 19 chains, more or less. As the said portion of road is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 43115, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured red.

Vesting a Cemetery Reserve in the Grey County Council.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-third day of October, 1917

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto has been permanently reserved for a public cemetery: And whereas in the opinion of the Governor-General it is expedient to vest the said reserve in the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the Grey County:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the fourth section of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, doth hereby declare that from and after the day of the date hereof the reserve described in the Schedule hereto shall become vested in the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the Grey County, in trust, for a public cemetery.

ALL that area in the Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement 3 acres 2 roods 38 perches, more or less,
