and it is considered desirable to allocate such land to the purposes of a road:
And whereas it has been certified by the Minister of Public Works that such land is not required for railway purposes: And whereas such land is situated in the Franklin County, the local authority of which has consented to the issue of this Proclamation, and appears to be the local authority most capable of conveniently and effectively controlling and maintaining the said road:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by section one hundred and ninety-seven of the Public Works Act, 1908, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall, upon the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, become a road, and that the said road shall be maintained by the Franklin County Council in like manner as other public highways are controlled and maintained by the said Council.

APPROXIMATE areas of the pieces of land dealt with: 16 perches, 1·1 perches, and 16·4 perches.

In the Auckland Land District; as the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 42146, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured orange.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Member of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this fourth day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and seventeen.

Defining the Middle-line of a Further Portion of the Huntly-Awaroa Branch of the Kaipara-Waikato Railway—viz., from 7 Miles 30 Chains to 8 Miles 34·78 Chains.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the portion of the Huntly-Awaroa Branch of the Kaipara-Waikato Railway from a point in Section 55, Pepepe Parish, to near Basley’s Corner (Burnt Bridge) in Section 25, Parish of Pepepe (hereinafter termed “the said railway”), is a railway the construction of which is authorized by the Railways Authorization Act, 1911: and the Railways Authorization Act, 1914: And whereas the said railway has been partly constructed and it has been determined to construct and maintain a further portion of the same:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section one hundred and eighty-eight of the Public Works Act, 1908, and in exercise of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the middle-line of the further portion of the said railway shall be that defined and set forth in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.
COMMENCING at a point in Section 211, Parish of Pepepe, Block II, Newcastle Survey District, and marked 7 m. 30 ch., which point is also the termination of the railway described in a Proclamation dated the 20th day of January, 1914, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 4, of the 23rd day of the same month; proceeding thence generally in a westerly direction for a distance of 1 mile 478 links, and passing in, into, through or over the following lands, &c.—viz., Sections 211, Block II, 206, Blocks I and II, and Section 10, Block I, Newcastle Survey District, all in the Pepepe Parish; and terminating at iron pipe V in centre of road intersecting the said Section 10 marked 8 m. 34·78 ch. : including all adjoining and intervening places, lands, reserves, roads, tracks, lakes, rivers, streams, and watercourses.
In the Auckland Land District; as the same is delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 43019 (Auckland No. 6365), deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section eleven of the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby, with the consents of the owners and mortgagees of the land described in the First Schedule hereto, and of the Takaka County Council, being the local authority in whose district the said land is situated, proclaim as a road the land in Totaranui Survey District described in the First Schedule hereto; and also do hereby, with the like consents as aforesaid, proclaim as closed the road described in the Second Schedule hereto, which is not required by reason of the road described in the First Schedule hereto.
