THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

Aino-shima, W. entrance to Shimonoseki Strait, will be
changed as follows at the beginning of August, 1917.

Omoji-iwa Beacon Light.

Character.—Pintsch gas, occulting red; duration of light
3 seconds, and of eclipse 2 seconds.

Power.—100 candles.

Visible Distance.—10 nautical miles in clear night.

Further notice will be given after the above changes have
been effected.

MALACCA AND SINGAPORE STRAITS.

LIGHTS EXTINGUISHED AND TO BE EXTINGUISHED.

The Consul-General of the Netherlands at Singapore reports
that the lights of Cyrene Reef, Raffles Reef, Singapore (Fort
Canning), and the lights in the channels to Penang are
extinguished.

The light on Sultan Reef is extinguished every evening
at 8 o’clock.

It is possible that without further notice the remaining
lights on the British side of Malacca and Singapore Straits
will be extinguished.


Mining Privileges to be struck off the Register.—Notice under the Mining Act, 1908, and Amendments.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned educa-
tion reserves will be offered for lease by public auction
at the District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, at
11.30 o’clock a.m. on Thursday, 15th November, 1917, under
the provisions of the Education Reserves Act, 1908, and
amendments, and the Public Bodies’ Leases Act, 1908.
