THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Bay of Islands County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

BAY OF ISLANDS COUNTY COUNCIL.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the County of Bay of Islands taken on the 29th day of August, 1917, on the proposal of the Bay of Islands County Council to borrow the sum of £40,000 for purposes of road formation and metalling and bridge-construction, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 278, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 219.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal being less than three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded, I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

KAWHIA COUNTY.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Awaroa Riding of the County of Kawhia taken on the 5th day of September, 1917, on the proposal of the Kawhia County Council to borrow the sum of £100 for the purpose of providing the Council’s contribution towards the renewal of two bridges on the Awaroa–Mahoe Road destroyed by flood, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 14, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was nil.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Dated at Kawhia this 10th day of September, 1917.
