Barley booked through from Seddon, Riverlands, and
intermediate stations to Wellington and shipped from Picton
will be charged 18. 9d. per sack for conveyance by rail and
steamer, including wharfage and unloading at Picton.

Consignors or consignees to make their own arrangements
for shipping.

Goods not otherwise provided for will be charged according
to ship's bill of lading, or by weight or measurement, at the
option of the Railway Department.

CLASS F.-HAY, ETC.

Cancel

The maximum rate on goods of Class F consigned from
Blenheim and intermediate stations to Picton for shipment
will be 15s. per truck, including sheeting, wharfage, and
unloading.

Insert-

The maximum rate on goods of Class F consigned from
Blenheim, Tuamarina, and intermediate stations to Picton
for shipment will be 20s. per truck, including use of sheets,
wharfage, and unloading.

This rate will be subject to the 10-percent. increase
(Gazette extract 3/15, of 16th September, 1915).

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block XIV, Heruiwi

Survey District, for Road Purposes.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the
provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute
a certain public work-to wit, the construction of a road
purposes of such public work the land described in the
Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is
hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to
be taken is deposited in the post-office at Rangitaiki, and
is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected
by the execution of the said public work or by the taking
of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded
objections to the execution of the said public work or to
the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing,
and send such writing, within forty days from the first
publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works
at Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken:
15 acres 1 rood 26 perches.
Portion of Pukahunui No. 2, Block XIV, Heruiwi Survey
District. (S.O. 16890.)

In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more
particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 42479,
deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works
at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and
thereon coloured red.

Bonus for the Production of Quicksilver.

Mines Department,
Wellington, 1st August, 1917.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of fourpence (4d.)
per pound will be paid on the production of the first
one hundred thousand pounds weight (100,000 lb.) of good
marketable retorted quicksilver, free from all impurities, from
any mine in New Zealand, on the following conditions, that
is to say:--

  1. That at least one-half of the quantity is produced on or
    before the 31st March, 1920, and the remaining half on or
    before the 31st March, 1921.

  2. The first instalment of the bonus will be paid when fifty
    thousand pounds (50,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced
    as stipulated to the satisfaction of an officer to be appointed
    by the Minister of Mines, and on whose certificate alone the
    bonus will be paid.

  3. In the event of more than one person producing the
    required quantities of quicksilver before the dates named,
    inquiry will be made by the officer above referred to, when, if
    it is found that each applicant is equally entitled to a bonus,
    the amount will be divided in proportion to the quantities
    produced by each applicant, but in no case shall any bonus be
    paid until at least fifty thousand pounds (50,000 lb.) of quick-
    silver has been produced in the aggregate.

Government Offices to be closed on Monday, the 24th September,

1917 (Dominion Day).

Government Offices throughout New Zealand will be
closed on Monday, the 24th September, 1917, in celebration
of the tenth anniversary of the day on which the Colony of
New Zealand was created a Dominion.
