LIGHT NEAR GREYMOUTH.

NOTICE is hereby given that Messrs. Buchanan and party have erected and propose exhibiting at irregular intervals a bright light of ordinary arc-lamp power in connection with their mining operations on the west coast of the South Island at a point half a mile south of Point Elizabeth.
The light will be at an elevation of about 180 ft. above H.W., and will be visible direct out to sea, but not from vessels approaching from the north or south.
Charts, &c., affected.—Admiralty Charts Nos. 1212 and 2591; “New Zealand Pilot,” eighth edition, 1908, Chapter x, page 324.

AUCKLAND HARBOUR.—LIGHTS ON CENTRAL WHARF, COMMERCIAL HARBOUR.

THE Auckland Harbour Board have notified that the denoting-lights for the centre on the end of the Central Wharf are now ready for use, and will be lit on and after the night of Monday, 30th July.
These lights will be as follows: {Red

placed vertically 5 ft. apart; the lowest being 26 ft. above high-water mark.

NEW BRUNSWICK.—BAY OF FUNDY.—ST. JOHN HARBOUR APPROACH.—SUBMARINE BELL-BUOY WITHDRAWN.
Position.—Close to the light and whistle buoy, situated at a distance of—
(a.) 3·8 miles, 168° (S. 9° W. mag.), from Partridge Island Lighthouse (August to April).
(b.) 12·2 cables, 161° (S. 2° W. mag.), from the same lighthouse (May to July).
Partridge Island Lighthouse, lat. 45° 14⅓ N., long. 66° 3⅓ W.
Details.—This submarine bell-buoy has been withdrawn, and is to be expunged from the charts.
Variation.—21° W.
RED SEA, ETC.
RED SEA, GULF OF ADEN, PERSIAN GULF, ARABIAN SEA, BAY OF BENGAL, AND MALACCA STRAIT.—CAUTION WITH REGARD TO EXTINCTION OF LIGHTS.
- The lights at the following places have been extinguished: Massawa and approaches (except Shab Shakhs), Aden, Jibuti and vicinity (except Ras al Bir), Cape Monze, Karachi, Bombay and vicinity, Colombo, Barberyn, Madras, Calcutta and Hughli River approaches, Rangoon River approaches, Port Blair in the Andaman Islands, Penang, Singapore.
Vessels are prohibited from entering the Port of Massawa between sunset and 6.0 a.m., and they should not approach the port between these hours.
