Further Modification of Military Service Act, 1916, as extended to Natives.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by a Proclamation made and gazetted on the twenty-sixth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, in pursuance of section fifty of the Military Service Act, 1916 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), the provisions of the said Act were extended so as to apply to Natives, in the same manner as they apply to men who are not Natives, with the modifications set forth in the said Proclamation: And whereas it is expedient to further modify the provisions of the said Act as extended to Natives by the said Proclamation:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby, in pursuance of the authority conferred upon me by the said Act, proclaim and declare that, in addition to the modifications set forth in the above-recited Proclamation, the said Act shall, in its application to Natives, be subject to the following further modification:—
Notwithstanding anything in section four of the said Act a Native reservist who has been married in accordance with Native custom on or before the first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, and whose marriage is for the time being subsisting, shall be a member of the Second Division of the Native Expeditionary Force Reserve.
And I do hereby declare that this Proclamation shall be read with the said Proclamation of the twenty-sixth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, which said Proclamation is hereby confirmed in all respects.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Member of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-third day of July, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and seventeen.
