THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Do-
minion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and
in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by
the Cook Islands Act, 1915, doth hereby amend the regula-
tions hereinbefore referred to in the manner set forth in the
Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
- CLAUSE 10 of the regulations hereinbefore referred to is
hereby amended by inserting, after subclause (1), the follow-
ing new subclauses :-
"(1A.) On the death within the Island of Niue of any
person who has not been attended by a medical practitioner
as aforesaid, the Chief Medical Officer of Niue, or other
Medical Officer authorized by him in this behalf, shall sign
and deliver, or cause to be delivered, to the Registrar a
certificate in the form No. 3A in the First Schedule hereto,
or to the effect thereof, stating to the best of his knowledge
and belief the causes of death (both primary and secondary)
of the deceased.
"(1B.) For the purpose of enabling him to give such
certificate the Medical Officer shall have the right to make
such examination of the body of the deceased as he thinks
fit, and any person who prevents a Medical Officer from
making such examination, or who obstructs or interferes
with a Medical Officer in such examination, shall be liable
to a fine of five pounds.
"Provided that if any relative of the deceased objects to
such examination being made, he may appeal to the Resident
Commissioner of Niue, whose decision shall be final.
"(1c.). On the receipt by the Registrar of a medical certifi-
cate under the foregoing regulations, in the case of any
person dying within the Island of Niue, the Registrar shall
issue to such person as he deems entitled thereto an autho-
rity for the burial of the deceased. Every such authority
shall be in the form No. 3B in the First Schedule hereto.
"(ID.) Every person who buries or causes to be buried
any person who has died within the Island of Niue, without
an authority in the form No. 3B having been first obtained
as aforesaid, shall be liable to a fine of five pounds." - The First Schedule to the said regulations is hereby
amended by inserting, after the form No. 3, the following
new forms :-

Authorizing the granting of a Lease of Part of a Street
formerly known as Studholme Street, which has been stopped,
within the Borough of Temuka for a Purpose of Public
Utility in Terms of Section 182 (2) of the Municipal
Corporations Act, 1908.

At the Government House at Wellington, this ninth day
of July, 1917.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the one-hundred-and-eighty-second sec-
tion of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908 (here-
inafter termed "the said Act"), it is enacted that where in
diverting, or stopping, or diminishing the width of any street
any part thereof is no longer required for public use, the
Council may grant a lease of the same, or any part thereof,

for any purpose of public convenience or utility approved
by the Governor-General in Council:
And whereas application has been received from the
Temuka Borough Council that the portion of street formerly
known as Studholme Street described in the Schedule hereto,
and which has been stopped by the Temuka Borough Council
in accordance with the requirements of the said Act, may
be leased by that Council to the South Canterbury Acclima-
tization Society for a purpose of public utility to wit, for
acclimatization purposes only:
And whereas the Governor-General in Council is of opinion
that the said portion of the street should be leased for the
purpose aforesaid:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise
of the powers and authority conferred upon him by the said
Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby approve
of the Temuka Borough Council granting to the South Canter-
bury Acclimatization Society a lease of the said piece of land
described in the Schedule hereto for the purpose of public
utility aforesaid.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of stopped street to be leased:
2 roods 0.3 perches.
Adjoining or passing through Reserve 1846, Reserve 758, and
Section 44, in the Borough of Temuka, Canterbury R.D.
In the Canterbury Land District; as the same is more
particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 42398,
and deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works
at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and
thereon coloured green.

by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that
the portion of road described in the Schedule hereto shall,
on and after the date of this Order in Council, become
a Government road.
