Notice of Intention to take Land in Blocks IX and X, Patetere North Survey District, for Road Purposes.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road in Blocks IX and X, Patetere North Survey District ; and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Putaruru, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.
Lands in Canterbury Land District for Sale or Lease to Discharged Soldiers.
District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, 25th June, 1917.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands are open for sale or lease to discharged soldiers under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the regulations thereunder; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Tuesday, 31st July, 1917.
The lands may be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or selected on lease for thirty-three years, with right of renewal for further successive terms of thirty-three years, and a right to acquire the freehold.
Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, on Thursday, 2nd August, 1917, at 11 o'clock a.m.
The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.
SCHEDULE.
Canterbury Land District.—First-class Land. Geraldine County.—Orari Survey District.—Tripp Settlement. SECTION 6, Block VII : Area, 127 acres 2 roods 2 perches. Capital value, £1,545. Annual instalment on deferred payment (without interest), £77 5s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £34 15s. 3d.
Situated about eight miles from Geraldine by good road. All flat and easy undulating agricultural land of good quality, somewhat broken by gullies; about 15 acres ploughed, balance in stubble and grass; &well watered by two streams. There is a considerable amount of twitch and yarra on the section. The improvements which go with the land consist of house, shed, wash-house, dairy, fencing, fruit and shelter trees, &c.
Paparua County.—Christchurch Survey District.—Hornby Settlement.
Section 13, Block XIII : Area, 3 acres 0 roods 21 perches. Capital value, £210. Annual instalment on deferred payment (without interest), £10 10s. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £4 14s. 6d.
Weighted with £25, valuation for buildings and fencing. Good flat agricultural land. Access by good road one mile from Hornby Railway-station.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned education reserves will be offered for lease by public auction at the District Lands and Survey Office, Dunedin, at 11 o'clock a.m. on Friday, 20th July, 1917, under the provisions of the Education Reserves Act, 1908, and amendments, and the Public Bodies' Leases Act, 1908.

SECTION 17, Block XXXII : Area, 1 rood; upset annual rent, £14.
Weighted with £825, valuation for dwellinghouse, concrete wall, drainage, and garden.

Weighted with £240, valuation for dwellinghouse, outbuildings, fencing, and garden.
A good site, with a frontage to Eden Street. Possession will be given on 10th October, 1917.
ABSTRACT OF CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

  1. The term of each lease will be twenty years and six months from Ist January, 1918.
  2. A half-year's rent at the rate offered, and rent for the broken period between date of possession and 31st December, 1917, lease, registration, and stamp fees, and valuation for improvements, to be paid on the fall of the hammer.
  3. At the end of term lease to be offered by auction for further term of twenty-one years at rent to be fixed by arbitration, the incoming lessee to pay the value of the improvements, which is to be handed over to the outgoing lessee.
  4. No assignment or sublease without consent.
  5. Interest at the rate of 10 per cent. per annum to be paid on rent in arrear.
  6. Consent of the Land Board to be obtained before subletting, erecting any buildings, or effecting other improvements.
  7. Lease is liable to forfeiture if conditions violated.
